I expect a win. A lot of the problems against UML were caused by Clark who should and does know better. I expect he'll bounce back and score 20 with only a couple of turnovers.

Well Clark did only have 2 turnovers but he only scored 13. I forgot to factor in DK's abysmal coaching when I predicted a win.

re: 2016-17 UMass Minutemen

I haven't been here in so long I forgot my password. And my old account is mapped to a now obsolete email account. (87, Raytheon quietly killed off the domain where email was created last month. I can't retire soon enough).

So, I caught most of the game last night. I like this team! Well, except for Kellogg, and Donte Clark. Clark is too selfish, he doesn't seem to fit in. Kellogg remains a terrible game manager.

I turned it on just as they were starting that first half run. These guys are not the usual big guys with minimal BB skills that we've been seeing alot of, they seem to understand the game. Which is good, because Kellogg still sucks. I almost bailed at the end. Once they started trying to bleed the clock I sensed they were doomed. It rarely works, yet Kellogg can't get that through his thick skull.

I need to go study the roster, I don't know anything about these guys. But that skinny number 3 leaped out immediately. I haven't been this interested in a UMass team since Travis Ford left town.

re: 2016-17 UMass Minutemen

This roster is full of talent.

Not sure where Clark fits in yet. He seems like he is playing "the old system". He loves those 28 footers that he "creates" for himself.... The others seem to share more - you don't see too many 3 pointers taken that did not come off of a pass - except for Clark.

Rebounding is not good, rotations are [to be kind] a little suspect.

DK is just a terrible coach - they almost won despite him and lost because of him.....

They are way more fun to watch than whatever that was on the floor last year for sure, but once the game gets down to the end and actual strategy is needed - they are phucked.

The rebounding wasn't too bad, for a while. That last play killed me though. The announcers called exactly what went down before it happened.

Those refs were incredibly bad. I especially loved it when Jarreau drew a foul by tripping over his own two feet.

Let me update the scouting report on Umass for you all in the A-10.

Just stay close enough to them so that the Head Coach has to employ strategy down the stretch and you will win the game.

I know football brings in big money but I can do without that sport.
are you folks still gonna play in Foxboro?
that's crazy - its like VCU getting football and playing at FedEx Field

Only high profile games most likely. Right now we have NO games at Foxboro next year.

re: 2016-17 UMass Minutemen

It doesn't get any better than UMass D-1 Football.

10-48 (will be 10-50 in a couple more weeks).

Average home attendance, including those Gillette Games ~14,500. Less than the required 15K. The NCAA could resolve this for UMass just based on this. I wish they would. This was a mistake from the get-go.

Knobby do they even have a schedule for next season? I know they were still scrambling to fill half their slate this season as late as April.

I wish UMass would take the VCU approach and just concentrate their budget and state backing into men's hoops.

Edit: Oh, and please go back to the "Refuse to Lose" era uniforms. The scripted "U" was so cool.

Hoops AND Hockey. UMass should be awesome in hockey, instead they own the basement of Hockey East. It's the basement of the best hockey conference in the land, but it's still a basement. It's a major embarrassment that UMass-Lowell is a regular top 10 in the Country team while the Flagship languishes. Hell, UConn has passed them as a program.

I think they are set or 95% set for the next two years actually. The last time I saw it there were no Gillette games next year and I think 2 or 3 in the 2018 season against P5 schools and the uConvicts.

They may actually have a 4 or 5 win season next year. The competition is less that this year, but they need to put some more wins on the ledger sooner than later.

I hope they're bringing Wagner back. That was a huge win. Yuge! 8000 fans went home happy that day. Makes it all worth it.

Will target twice the amount of my donations to Football than Basketball. The beauty of giving is you get decide and not someone else. Don't get me wrong, love UMass Basketball. Just the Football Program needs the money to make that jump, like basketballs 90's run and donation levels. Next year in football will be very important for getting wins and to start changing peoples perception of the program. Will see Pittsburgh and DC, no fears A10 fans, we are solid and founding members of the great old A10. GoUMass!!

re: 2016-17 UMass Minutemen

Nice win last night. Temple is young too, and even though they were bigger than us, we out rebounded them and won a game that we should win at home.

Interesting to see Umass use a little Zone Defense last night. It was like the coach was actually coaching or something...... Who knew he had it in him?

This team is going to get better and better, I am not sure that we are going to be an afterthought in the conference after all... Jarreau's confidence has doubled up each game and they look like they know what they are doing out there already.....
