I am relaxing on my sofa ... with a Bloody Mary and a cup of coffee picturing Kostas Antetokoumpo doing this at the Reilly Center ...

Re: 2016-2017 Dayton Flyers

Rumor has it that Archie doesn't like NC State AD Debbie Yow. NC State also ran out Herb Sendek after a successful run, and Archie really likes Sendek (both are from Pittsburgh). He was also part of Sendek's staff that was tarred and feathered.

interesting take from their fans on this whole ordeal. Archie is clearly the #1 choice by their fan base but I'm not so sure he goes there. He might, but I don't think it's as done as a deal as if OSU job opened up.

One, as JAF stated, there are rumors out there that Archie doesn't like the NC State AD. If true, that would be a death blow to the deal.

Two, not sure how much NC State is willing to pony up the money. They would likely have to come in at around $2 million a year just starting off and pay his buyout to Dayton. Maybe $$$ isn't even an issue for NC State?

Three, read the link I provided. It sounds a total cluster over in that AD right now in how they are handling the firing of MG. That alone could send mixed messages to their next hire and goes along with my first point.

Either way, we better get used to this as some of the higher level P5 jobs start to open up. Archie will be numbers 1 or 2 on just about every list.

When Capel, Grant and Smart left VCU every single one of the job openings was created by "a total cluster over in the AD and how they handled the firing of the head coach" They made a large pay out and then dumped the money truck. Kind of how it works when a program with money falling out of their pockets wants a new shiny object.

One person over there did say, "We all want Archie Miller, we will probably get Archie Bunker". lol

Re: 2016-2017 Dayton Flyers

Any other A10 coaches of interest to Pack fans? Are any A10 coaches moving up?
The only two coaches in the A10 that I can imagine that others might be interested in would be Miller or Wade at VCU. I think Paulsen will soon be a candidate for a bigger job, but he has yet to prove himself to others, though I have little doubt that he will in time.

I wouldn't think anyone but Miller or Wade would be a consideration from the A10 but even Wade is probably 2-3 years away from making a jump up (if that's what it really is?).

I've seen Mark Few's name pop up on their board too but most think that is unrealistic as he could have left numerous times and hasn't yet.

I had to read this twice. It's actually refreshing to read P5 propaganda that is objective and touches on reality. The State of Illinois is one step away from bankruptcy but the B10 revenue machine prints money, and the writer acknowledges that Illinois wouldn't pony up the cash needed to get Archie to pick up the phone.

Illinois has a very strong class coming in. Groce probably gets one more year.

Yeah, Illinois could be a good job and was for Bill Self.

Re: 2016-2017 Dayton Flyers

Now that Gottfried has been let go (early) it's probably time to wonder if Miller will go to his alma mater.
I think he is in a good position to maybe do that with the success of the last few years. And like Shaka, things have slide a little each year from the E8 so now might be a good time.
Conversely, if he makes a deep run this year, his asking price would only go up (probably way up).
Will be interesting to see what happens.

The way NC State handled Gottfried is similar to how UT screwed Rick Barnes. I say buyer beware. And there is this article that was published today.

Archie has a good thing I say.

NC State Insider posted this. Ha!

Archie Miller is 1A and Will Wade is 1B

Dayton, VCU, Wichita St, and Butler. Maybe I'm biased, but those all seem like better jobs to me than NC State.
