Re: Transfers

JonBoy's got youth on his side. AA's got the wiles of a veteran.

I'm betting on JonBoy.

At this point I'm more concerned why Paul has popcorn with porn.

I would like to hear thoughts on that situation, his decision to go to UConn and how people think he will do there.
I think he was tired of losing to Dayton, traveling to Olean and manuevering through all of the A10 landmines. Just joking. I'm conflicted because I can understand why kids who graduate may want to transfer. Maybe it's because there is actually another grad program that their current school doesn't offer, there may be more playing time at another school, or they may want to experience the awesomeness of playing in the P5. The big problem that I have is that Fordham gave him an opportunity to attend a fine university. I don't know the circumstances, but I doubt a non-athlete in his situation gets a sniff by Fordham. Maybe he was unhappy at Fordham the past few years? Who knows.

Stop changing the subject, Jaffie. We need to see where this popcorn, butter and porn thing is headed.

Re: Transfers

The porn aspect of the program you can blame on Big E and AA.
As for the popcorn, that is traceable to Will Wade. Here he is addressing his rapt audience of players, prior to a big game:

Re: Transfers

Didn't they have tailors in Richmond, or at least a decent men's clothing store that can put Will in a dress shirt that fits?

You won't be seeing Anthony Grant wearing a shirts like that.

Ask him. He used to shop here in Richmond. What was Archie wearing when he told his team he was leaving for Indiana?

Aggressive. Committed. Thankful.

1 out of 3 ain't bad.

Godspeed Wade.

Find a form-fitting shirt for your next gig and look the part. Anthony Grant is embarrassed for you. And still looks suave and debonaire, whilst being so.

Re: Transfers

Anyway, back to the subject that caused this to go off the rails. JonBoy is not excited about Khris Lane. I think Lane will be a big help to an young VCU line-up. He averaged 17 points and 7 rebounds a game. At 6'6 he can stretch the D and shoot the 3. If he can give VCU a good 10 minutes I will be happy. I understand if someone is underwhelmed by a Longwood player but there are many instances of players doing well after taking a step up in competition.

Rhoades still has two open spots. I think Hamdy will return or he will get a big. I also think he will get a commitment from Aaron Thompson a true freshman who received his scholarship release from Pitt.

New UMass coach Matt McCall and the Minutemen have found their point guard for next season.

Jaylen Brantley, a Springfield native and BABC alum, has committed to UMass as a grad transfer, the Herald has confirmed. He's immediately eligible to play and will have one season of eligibility.

The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

According to his former BABC coach Leo Papile, Brantley's commitment to UMass mostly had to do with him coming close to home and getting his master's degree.
...
Brantley will come to Amherst after a two-year stint at Maryland, where he saw limited action. He averaged 16.8 minutes per game for the Terrapins, but showed an ability to hit 3-pointers (38.6 percent), something McCall covets.

The 5-foot-11 guard was a four-star recruit as he played with BABC, where he helped the AAU team win two national championships alongside the likes of current NBA players Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel and Jake Layman.
....
"Hes a change of pace guy," Papile said. "He really takes care of the basketball. He can really make open shots, and old coaches like me cherish that. Im not big on the guys that go 100 mph and just run over and jump over you. I trust my point guard because possessions are valuable, and Jays a point guard you can trust. Hes a high IQ, low turnover guy. Hell be an asset to any team, whether its a transition team or a veteran team.

"Hell make shots. There will be stability on offense. Hes a change of pace guy, kind of like an off-speed pitcher. Hes not an athletic marvel, but hes very efficient."
