Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

Given the situation, Kostas will average a triple double in his one and only year at Dayton before going as the 7th pick in next year's draft.....

I am now lowering expectations to 12 wins.

Don't give up hope yet 75. Be patient. AG will bring in a starting PG.

I'm sure UD will find a capable PG, be it a JUCO and/or four-year player. Lots of good players still out there.

Tidbits from yesterday:

Anthony Solomon has been hired as an assistant.

Dayton is keeping the First Four through 2022.

Jordan Pierce is staying committed. 6-11 C out of NJ.

Updated the first post....

Dayton currently has 9 scholarship players...but at least they are almost all over 6'6".

Dayton can win with anyone. Will you employ the highly successful 5-forward lineup this season?

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

Did Grant employ a pressing style at VCU, or was that more Smart's thing? With the length of the current UD roster, they may be able to create some headaches with press variations and zones in half-court sets.

No. He had a great point guard named Eric Maynor.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

Son of Havoc defense.
Former Bonnie head coach assisting.
Players over 6'6" on the bench.
What could go wrong?
I'm seeing preseason champions written all over this.
Couple more recruits and you'll be in mid-season form.

(meanwhile, we're still going with the Coaches' Cookoff as our lead off-season news.)

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

This will be the "longest" team Dayton has put on the court in recent memory for sure.

Kostas (6-10 or 6-11)
Pierce (6-11)
Miller (6-9)
Williams (6-8)
Cunningham (6-7)
Mikesell (6-7)
And the lone guards are 6-5, 6-4, and 6-4.

Anybody here with eligibility, about 6-1, and can dribble a basketball? Go apply now.

Kostas' impact will be on defense. I think he'll be solid on offense but his defense will be really really good. Quite frankly, the biggest question of all, and it's the elephant in the room is, who will play PG? I'm sure AG will grab a couple of PGs here soon but how good will they be is the question.

Would be interesting to see if Solomon brings the #37 ranked player in the country with him to Dayton...had committed to Georgetown. He's a PG with offers from about everybody. I'd be stunned if it happens but not out of the realm of possibilities.

Forgot to mention, Dayton signed a two game series with Auburn. Starts in Dayton this year.
