I have no idea... I just think Maye won't come here with Crutcher committing.

We do need 1 more PG, so I dunno

I am speculating, but I'd say that Maye won't visit UD. I think that UD would like to get Frankie Hughes so that would leave one additional scholarship. I'm guessing that John Crosby takes it.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

Crutcher was a Chattanooga commit under McCall. He thought about reclassifying to 2018.

I thought McCall went to UMass.

Ya you are right. I mixed him up with the guy we got from Murray state. Either way, he didn't reclassify lol.

I'm not sure Crosby returning is the best thing for him or the program. As a fellow player I would have reservations about taking someone back who quit the team before. On the court he doesn't seem to have the natural instincts of a pg. Maybe Grant is looking for a solid, if not spectacular grad-transfer for the pg position to shepherd Crutcher into the role for next year. He now has 11 players on scholarship and only Davis graduates after this season. If he brings in a grad transfer, he'll then be able to target at least two of his own recruits to go after. My thought would be to get in addition to pg grad transfer another grad who can give you solid minutes at the 4/5. Miller is coming off a broken ankle, Mikesell may have to take a medical redshirt year, Pierce will be raw, and Cunningham hasn't been the picture of health. Of course, those grad transfers are not easy to get.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

http://daytonflyers.com/news/2017/5/...th-dayton.aspx

Crutcher was one of the top guards in Memphis, Tenn. this season. He is a 6-foot-3, 170 lb. point guard from Ridgeway High School in Memphis. A member of the Memphis Commercial Appeal's Class AAA All-Metro Team, he recently played in the 2017 Basketball Coaches of Tennessee/Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association all-star basketball game.

The three-star recruit averaged 18 points, four assists and two steals per game last year.

Crutcher joins fall signees Jordan Davis and Jordan Pierce, along with Matej Svoboda, who signed last week, as Dayton's incoming class for the 2017-18 season.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

I said it on Pride, and I'll say it here, UD appears to be making a concerted effort in Memphis this spring. With the mess that Tubby has made at Memphis, and within the Memphis area recruiting scene, this would be a great part of the country for UD to target. Tons of talent.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

Some crack reporters from a local TV station tweeted some pics of the Arena's renovation plans two days before the official announcement. There isn't a lot a detail other than adding plaza seats, terrace seating in the corners and expanded concourses. There is a $100 million price tag rumored.

The school officially announced receiving a $13 million building permit last Friday. This is for improvements to infrastructure.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

thanks Jaffie for the link above I'm a long way away from the Dayton area. Grant most be comfortable with the decision, because he's going to deal with its consequences. With one remaining scholarship, I think I would try to bring in a grad transfer such as Ajou from Georgetown or McIntosh from Illinois Sate. They may not be superstars, but they've got a presence down low. With Pierce being RAW, Miller and Mikesell coming off surgery, and Cunningham's injury history, I think bringing either of those two in would be a plus.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

I think you can write Mikesell off for most of this year.

Dayton should be "ok" down low and really really good if everyone except Mikesell can stay healthy.

Kostas, Williams, Cunningham, Pierce and Miller make for a solid frontcourt. But ya, bringing in another solid big wouldn't hurt either.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

I've completely updated the first post.

The roster is most likely set for now (finally) with the possibility of one more being added as there is one ship open.

There is certainly a lot of talent on this team still and they can compete for a Top 5 finish....I'm just not sure on how certain I am on it all coming together in year one for Grant. I've seen two mock drafts...one for 2019 and one for 2020 that have two Flyers being drafted in the Top 15. I can't recall ever seeing that before from a Dayton roster.
