np, In a way we are kind of giving the same for Basketball, but because we have other revenue sports my gifting is different. I give $500 to basketball, which is the same as your combine, 2 seat license.

Seating first goes by gift level, which includes all sports. Give some to other specific sports and all sports.

PS. Decades ago was humbled by how much Xavier and Dayton fans needed to give and it was an inspiration to me. To some day, give as much and support my university in the same way.

Three years and 70+ million for renovations. Was there any serious talk about the university and the city working together financially to build a brand new structure?

That's a good question. Rumors swirled in the past year that UD would buy the old Fairgrounds from the county and build a new Arena there. How much would that cost? Probably over 100 million for a brand new state of the art building with land purchase and all the extra fees that go with that.

IMO, the school is happy with where the Arena is located. Super close to a major freeway; hotels are being built around it; Edwin C. Moses is easy to access and not heavily traveled during game times. I'm sure they did a cost analysis and found this was the better option.

No. Would take $200-300M to do it right.

Several years ago, there were serious discussions involving the county and UD to jointly own a multi-purpose facility. UD's desire to own its facility - a basketball only facility - was one of the reasons that I heard that it never moved passed planning and discussion.

Re: 2017-2018 Dayton Flyers

Do they use the arena for other functions; concerts, etc. ?

Edit: I see you said "basketball only facility" but I'm thinking if it's only used 15 times a year, that seems like a waste.

They do, but they aren't really big events like concerts, PBR, tractor pulls or other events that draw in SW Ohio. There really isn't a multi-use facility in Montgomery County which is one reason that the county was thought to be talking about a partnership with UD. The Nutter Center at Wright State hosts quite a few of these events.

Part of the problem is that the Arena isn't air conditioned which will be covered in the renovations.

Many years ago, it may not have even been on this board, one or a few of my sweater brethren posted pictures of the tile in the shower of the Flyer's renovated locker room showers. In the spirit of those posts, I thought that I would share this with you fine individuals.

Look at these seats! The actual seats will have cup holders!

Based on recent history, do you really want to emboss the logo on the leather/vinyl?

Very nice, was told by a friend when the A10 tournament was in Dayton that the wooden arm rest came off. He took one of them and John Chaney signed it for him. OF course this is just a story and never seen the arm rest.

I really posted this as a joke or to be a dick, but I am guessing that the pleather seats are going to be limited to suites and other premium seating areas. The vast majority of the Arena will be the standard seats in the second picture.

The father of one my daughter's friends died unexpectedly Sunday morning ... not long after her senior prom ended.

Kyle Davis' family loses their home.

This happens to some of the red seats in the Reilly Center. Upgrading the seating is one of the top priorities within the athletic department. I doubt we'll be able to muster up $72 million for it, though.

They should just make seats out of bourbon barrels and kegs for all of the drunken finger pointers.
