2017-2018 Richmond Spiders

I hope there's no hex for starting next year's thread before the FF plays.

Congrats to TJ Cline on being selected to the Portsmouth Invitational.

Quote:
Cline was recently named AP All-America Honorable Mention, the only representative of the Atlantic 10 on the AP All-America lists.
Quote:
He tallied the first triple-doubles in Richmond history and was one of just two players in the country with multiple triple-doubles this season.

What does that have to do with the 2017-18 Spiders. Shut this thread down now!

Motivation? Inspiration? Porn opportunities? Placeholder for blue circle?

Take your pick.

I guess he is planning to lament the loss of TJ for 2017-18.

re: 2017-2018 Richmond Spiders

Very excited about the Spiders next year. We'll miss TJ and ShawnDre but we return a lot of young talent. There weren't two freshmen who played and contributed as much on a top-5 A-10 team this year as Buck and Sherod. Fore had a strong year and will be even better next year. Needs to develop a little more consistency, but I think he will.

We're getting a good grad transfer forward who if healthy should fit seamlessly into our system and add some height and talent we need. We have a transfer, Solly Stansbury (dad played in the NBA), who is 6'7" and I think a Jarod Stevenson type (to put things into 1998 terms for those who remember, which is probably no one). He's got two years of eligibilty.

And we should have a healthy Grant Golden back, our 6'9" freshman center who had the heart issue this year. We have a freshman PG from Missouri named Gilyard who will play a lot and seems like a mix between Kevin Anderson and Kendall Anthony in terms of what he does well. We can only hope he will approach the levels either of those guys met, but he has the potential. We should be a top-5 team next year.

Are we starting to talk about fight club?

Oh, and I was hoping more Greg than Jarod based on Solly's current build...

Someone good.

mite, I think Solly could be a tweener of Jarod/Greg. He's got some muscle, but not as much as Greg. He's going to be solid for us, though. AN entirely new frontline will be fun to watch.

There are too many P5 recruiters listening...

When does a Grad Transfer sign anything? Is he a Grad Transfer until he graduates?

It's not done yet, but we are very optimistic. He's not some P5 superstar but is a really good fit for us.

Hope we get someone good to shore up the front line.
That would sure seem to be the place we will need the most help. Experience would be helpful.

Re: 2017-2018 Richmond Spiders

I lost a post somewhere. Oh well, why you guys are screwing around with coaches and recruits coming/going, OOC schedules and how much you can make as a FBS buy-game, back at Richmond we are focused on more important things.

Like the Coaches' Cookoff where Mooney will defend his crown and teach the new VCU guy some tricks.
