After 2 years of foot injuries nobody knows how he will be but if healthy, he can be that 3rd guy consistently. They added a juco big who can run the floor and help out down low. Most expect Ayeni to play his natural 4 position and Ikpeze/Gueye (the juco I just mentioned) to man the 5. This is based on the front court improving from Freshmen to Sophomores, something we typically see. Lunardi has them in the field as of now (I know, I know) so that at least says something of what other people think. Most fans view this as an NCAA or bust year.
Thanks. Good to hear about the juco and progression of the front court. I hope for the fans' and the league it turns out that way.

We will do what we do. Joe Lunardi and the preseason prognosticators can ETOAHs.

Believe it or not I was bored last night so I watched the 2nd half and OT of the VCU/Bona game. By the way VCU still won that game when .4 was put on the clock and Lewis hit his technical foul shot. But I digress Bona has a good front court coming back. Ayeni is aggressive and Ikpeze is big. Both of them are only sophomores. Ikpeze is 6'10 and his name rhymes with Trapeze. VCU is still going to beat them at the Stu this year because VCU fans are too refined to rush the court like a bunch of drunk Sherpas.

By the way, I'm not expecting Dayton to slide. They'll more than likely remain a top 3-5 team in 2017-18.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bona passed by the Flyers, but this type of prediction came back and bit a certain LaSalle poster in the ass.

I'm concerned about the backcourt. There was a lot of optimism that a couple of local grad transfers would end up at Dayton (Jaaron Simmons and possibly Mark Alstork), but that didn't happen.

We aren't in a position to thump our chests. Our guys need to grind. Lots of good teams in this league.

This. Until VCU and Dayton aren't in the top 3, I see no reason to predict their impending demise. I have Bona 4th.

If by refined, you mean that the VCU fans will be too busy tweeting 17 or 18 year old recruits to notice that the game is over, then yes. I agree with you.

I agree the team should be focused but I view this season the same way I viewed 2011-2012 as a year to be excited about and raised expectations. Barring injuries, a miss of the NCAA would be very disappointing. Sure, there are good teams in the league but this is a year where Bona is in that top tier.

That La Salle (dont forget the space!) team lost its best player though. This Bona team is not losing any key parts. I liked Denzell Gregg but he was not a game changer most nights. It wasnt like losing Dion Wright.
