Should have been a Hawk from the start.

Phil strikes again.

Well, we'll be like the Hawks last year, a very short bench.

Yeah, but with all the "sit-1s" we're getting I'm now okay with next year being mostly a wash, outside of being a good opportunity for some minutes in there for people.

Next year will be all about watching progress and hoping for no injuries. Unless I'm pleasantly surprised, in which case I'll be happier...I mean who doesn't like being pleasantly surprised?

As long as you pay us the loss revenue from 03, were you refused to play the game.

For years, people who actually knew anything about St. Bonaventure's men's basketball program looked at the Franciscan school as a bunch of under-recruited scrappy overachievers who could put a scare into Division I heavyweights.

From yesterday to many days in the future, the Bonnies will be remembered as the team that quit.

Long after the current players have graduated or left the western New York institution and the coach, athletic director and university president are (hopefully) fired, the quitter label will linger.

A day after being punished by their school and the league for a blatant rules violations - playing an ineligible player 25 games - the Bonnies took their ball and went home, refusing to play their final two games of the season.

If it wasn't your screen name suggesting you were around in 03, would have let the comment slide. But now you want to bitch about RPI after what you have done.

Go out schedule some good OOC games and win them. But don't bitch to me about our RPI.

Understand your frustration - I mean, we should judge SBU forever based on their results from 04-08. And the fact that a group of 18-21 year old kids were completely let down by the very people entrusted with their welfare for 4 years and screwed up.

Come on Steve. You're better than that.

It's all good and don't mind the 4 years it took you guys to recover. Happy that you guys are rolling and that is good. My point is that while we are re-building*, don't threaten to bitch about our RPI. As your RPI is not what kept you out of the big dance a few years back, but scheduling good OOC games and winning them. One or two is not enough to overcome the P5 bias.

It is slow now, don't normally complain much. Guess it also bothers me, you guys have beaten us year after year. Matt McCall looks like he is recruiting blue collar, hard working players. However 4 have to sit-out as transfers. One late 2017 recruit and one grad transfer, which should help. Pray last year was the 25 year bottom. That said would expect our RPI to improve from 193, gulp. Just don't know how much. Would be happy if it's at least 60 positions.

PS. Half took bon03 post as just kidding. Ya, the nerve being stuck is that the Bonnies have owned us.

* we lost 7 players, which is more than half the team, leaving just 6 scholarship players. One, who sat out last year taking a red-shirt, so 5 players with experience.

Re: 2017 - 2018 UMass Minutemen

Yeah, more than a few of our A10 brethren were hurt by our shitty squads during the Solomon era. We just need to take care of our own business. HOWEVER, I will not justify the 2016 NCAA committee's actions by saying Bona didn't do enough in the OOC. Those dickheads just move the target as it suits them. An RPI of 29, solidly in regardless of any other metric, and a solid handful top 25-50 wins should be more than enough to get an at-large. Oh, and that is the only team in HISTORY to be a regular season conference champion with a top 30 RPI to be left out. LET'S NEVER BRING THIS UP AGAIN!

Now, getting back to UMass... I like the approach. McCall will have the four transfers available for practices, and he will have a full roster that knows the system by 2018-19.

^ Unclear if McCall took the 4 sit-out transfers by design, or more out of necessity because he couldn't get what he wanted via HS, grads or JUCOs.

Travis Ford seemed to take this approach with SLU as well.

Matchups are set for the 2017 Barclays Center Classic, which is being held Nov. 24-25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a source told FanRag Sports.

The event, which is not held in a tournament-type setting, will feature Minnesota versus UMass and BYU against Alabama on one day, while the next day will showcase the Gophers against the Crimson Tide and the Minutemen vs. the Cougars.

Official tip-off times have yet to be determined.

Both Minnesota and Alabama should be ranked in the Preseason Top 25 entering next season. The Crimson Tide are ranked 24th in the FanRag Sports Preseason Top 25. Minnesota comes in ranked at 14.

Last scholarship has been all filled up for next season: Carl Pierre from Boston College High. He was going to go prep but then got an offer from us and went with it after a visit to campus.
