Steve Blake
What do you guys think of him. I really like him and think he can contribute in the NBA and be a good PG. He's a great floor leader and doesn't make any mistakes. He's always playing heads up. Does anyone remember the play when JWill was talking to coach K with about 30 seconds to go in the half about the play to run and Blake just took the ball from him classic. IMO the greatest moment of last years college bball season.

DaFuture, there is a very strong parallel here. The thought of Blake making it to the NBA makes me laugh as hard as watching Dewey on Malcolm in the Middle (you gotta admit, Dewey is funny ) I guess the truth just hurts....
Oh yeah, and did you notice the eerie resemblance?

Man ChiBullsFan. You got it all wrong...DEWY looks like Steve Blake!
Likely what is bothering DaFuture.
In all seriousness, with the crop of point guards this year, there are likely four - six better then Blake (depending on who comes out, not on how they are ranked). It's unlikely he'll be a starter, or even a contributer in the NBA. However, if he gets drafted by the right team and he makes their roster, it could happen. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

Only Sanders was a McD AA of that group. You could've thrown Burgess into that group if you wanted.
But a better statement might be... "Duke, where McD AA go to become NCAA All-Americans (and POY)" because there's been a lot more of those guys in recent years.

That's not an argument. I like Duke sure. But I mean, how can your counterpoint be that "my school sucks and doesn't produce pros". I've been over this hundreds of times, there are other schools which have produced as many busts recently as Duke. Ahhh...so frustrating. I thought I'd get an informed rebuttle, maybe something touching on Steve Blake. Actually, in re-reading your post, I am confused about what it means.
If Burgess would have stayed at Duke, good things may have happened after Brand left. Sanders probably should have never been an MCDAA. Even when he's had lots of pt, he's done nothing with it. He sucks.

ChiBull i forgot about a local kid Nate James, and willl soon add Duhon and Ewing. However if you look at the percentages of McDAA you guys get the % that are actually succesful fall well below the 1 in 4 average of McDAA that become NBA players.
If Sanders was at MD he would be starting over Tahj simply because Gary would have willed him to greatness. A 6'11 guy who is that athletic should not be struggling for pt against the likes of Shelden Williams and Shavlick Randolph.
Springsteen please dont try to use that all-superior tone with me. If you want to talk about busts I can go all day with you. My counterpoint is this Gary Williams does more with less talent (up until the last two recruiting classes who combined are better than Dukes) than Coach K has done with all his top 30 players and McDonald's All-Americans. They are both great coaches but in terms of building a program, Williams has done by far the more impressive job.
Coach K would never have tooken the job at Maryland if it was open.
On to Blake I dont need to argue this with you simply because time will prove my point. While James is struggling to play in the CBA Blake will make a solid early second rounder, and will be a nice role player for any team that drafts him. You may want to argue I have Terple-colored glasses. But Maryland players have a history of impressing at pre-draft camps i.e Terrence Morris and Lonny Baxter, Laron Profit and Keith Booth.

The whole point is, do you want a guy to be a real pg and distribute the ball or do you want a guy who can score a lot and maybe not be as good a leader.
Blake is fast, can play D, is a good distributor, and has proven that he can score if he wants. He'll definitely be a better pg than Dickau, Frank Williams, or Tinsley. He'll probably be better than Andre Miller.

That's just speculation. So it counts for nothing. Sanders is an offensive liability. Seriously, it isn't Coach K's fault that he hasn't gotten any better over the years. Think about it. You have the summer to get better and practise. Playing against a guy like Boozer every day, he should be | |
