San Francisco 49ers Thread
Who's a fan of the 49ers? Let's discuss the upcoming season.

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
I'm not. But they probably should've stayed away from Mike Martz as an OC.
It's an important yr, too. Nolan's on the hotseat, as his top draft pick Alex Smith (who has had a new OC every yr seems. Norv got the most out of him). They could clean house, if they don't show improvement. I also didn't understand their draft recently either. Bunch of developmental players, it seems. |

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
I didn't like their draft this year, either. I think Nolan is definitely done after this season, and I'm kind of glad. He just hasn't done that well with this team. He did the best when Norv was the OC (as did Alex Smith, who needs to get his **** together).
I do think our defense is going to improve as we have a nice core of players there, but the offense worries the hell out of me. If we don't get some sort of passing game involved, the other team's defenses are going to stay focused on Frank Gore, and when that happens, it's bad news. Just look at what happened last year. I'm really excited for the season, though. I have a bad feeling about it, though. In our first 8 games, we're going to play the Seahawks twice, the Saints, Patriots, Eagles and Giants. It gets a little easier in the 2nd half of the season, but for the 49ers, that's pretty brutal.

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
We signed Takeo Spikes today - awesome. He and Patrick Willis should kick some ***.

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
I wouldn't expect much out of Spikes. He's on the downside of his career. Hasn't played a full 16 games or gotten over 100 tackles in last 3 yrs.
Willis is a freaking beast though. Might just be the best LB in football already. |

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
I'm not expecting too much, but it's still a great signing for this young Niners team, in my opinion. And yeah, Willis is ****ing awesome. Can't wait to see what he does this season.
As for the QBs, I think Smith is going to be the starter by the season opener. We'll see what happens, though.

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
Not to get this totally off-topic, but I fully believe Quinn will be the future and the starting QB for the Browns once everyone and their org figure out this charade that is Derek Anderson. It could happen as early as this yr. He only signed a 3 yr deal, so they're not tied to him either.

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
Well, it looks like J.T. O'Sullivan has officially been named the starting QB for the season opener against the Cardinals.
Interesting; I wasn't expecting this.

Re: San Francisco 49ers Thread
No doubt he earned it, and I'm completely fine with the move. Just didn't see it coming.

Depth Chart: http://www.49ers.com/team/depth_chart.php
Lots of rumors going around that Josh Morgan could move into the starting role very soon. Alex Smith is doubtful due to an injury: Quote:
1:15 p.m. kickoff time! Let's kick those Cardinals' asses!
