Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
So I downloaded this album, Original Ground 2: No Sellout by DJ JS-1 because the guest spots looked absolutely dope. DJ Premier, KRS One, Ultramagnetic MC's, Brother Ali, Canibus, Large Professor, CL Smooth, Sadat X, Chino XL, Sean Price, Killah Priest, Aesop Rock, C Rayz Walz, eMC (with Punchline, and Wordsworth making solo spots on other tracks), Pharoahe Monch, OC, Termanology, Blaq Poet, Big Noyd, Akrobatik, and Rakaa Iriscience all have appearances on this album. But this was completely underwhelming given the artists that were set to appear on this record. Your basically left searching for the good in this album instead of it being full of standout tracks. There is some unnecessary tracks (M.O.B. with Vinnie Paz comes to mind), and tracks where the artists aren't used correctly (eMC's track). It's no doubt a pretty solid album but I expected it to be quite a bit better.

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
I keep trying not to listen to the leaks but I'm seeing overall positive reviews. I'm glad because his last album was gabbage to me and overall he's never had a hard album to me.

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
You feed a sucker, he'll just grow to be a bigger leech lol
I think once he stuck with a theme, he knew he couldnt just be all over the place. I am being overwhelmed with music of late, so much coming out.

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
I prefer to include groups along with solo artists in my lists. 2Pac, OutKast, A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Nas, Notorious BIG, The Roots, and Rakim (not a huge fan, but I couldn't think of a ninth & tenth act that was worthy!)

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
Here's some Statik Selektah for you, bball:
Statik Selektah feat. Bun B & Cory Mo-Get Out The Way Statik Selektah feat. Cassidy, Saigon & Termanology-Take It To The Top Statik Selektah feat. AZ & Cormega Statik Selektah feat. Jon Hope-The Rap Life That's just a few joints he's produced. Without a doubt, go and listen to both of his albums. The guy is an ill producer.

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
Good ****. I downloaded both albums, i'll upload them sometime soon and give them a listen. He definitely sounds like he may live up to the hype you have given him.
And since ATL brought up groups, I guess i'll do a top 10 groups list: 1. A Tribe Called Quest 2. Wu Tang Clan 3. The Roots 4. Outkast 5. Public Enemy 6. De La Soul 7. Eric B. and Rakim 8. Black Star 9. Little Brother 10. UGK/Cunninlynguists (Tie) |
