Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
I'm going to try to make it up there, we will see what happens though. That line-up looks dope as hell though.
I was checking out this Breakfast Club album by Donny Goines and it's not a terribly bad album. It's set up like a Dre album with a ton of guest spots (Naledge, Che Grand, Skyzoo, Planet Asia, Tanya Morgan) which attracted me to the album. Not AOTY, but it's a fairly solid album. Relapse is getting better with almost every listen for me, I'm loving this album. I still wouldn't put it above Self Explanatory, or Troubadour but it's up there with a lot of other stuff. Blackout 2 was great I loved it. I expected more energy but they still ripped it on the mic, (and Bun's guest spot was awesome). Brooklynati was really good as well. I'm really hoping Wale drops Back to the Feature soon, and Chemical Warfare by the Alchemist is out soon. My rating of the best albums so far of '09: 1. Troubadour- K'Naan 2. Self Explanatory- Classified 3. Relapse- Eminem 4. Brooklynati- Tanya Morgan 5. Blackout 2- Method Man and Redman 6. Born Like This- DOOM Subject to change, but that's how I see it so far. |

Soo I have been listening to Nas a lot the past week. Here's how I would rank his albums:
1. Illmatic 2. It Was Written 3. The Lost Tapes 4. Stillmatic 5. God's Son 6. Hip Hop Is Dead 7. Untitled 8. Street's Disciple 9. I Am 10. Nastradamus |

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
I just got back to listening to this kid, Chris Webby. He's from the Asher cloth, but he's about twice the rapper Asher has ever been, or ever will be.

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
Check out his White Noise LP, he put it out for free. It's pretty good, his punchlines are pretty creative.

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
Feel bad for Tanya Morgan. It shows how big of a bizarro world the music industry is. They've released two critically acclaimed albums and yet they're a late add-on to open for the Colin Munroe and Wale tour which neither artist has released an actual album (though I do like both).

Yeah I enjoy Munroe and Wale but they really shortchanged Tanya Morgan there. BTW is it just me or does Brooklynati get better with every listen? |

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
He dropped an actual album? All I knew about was his mixtape he released. What's weird is the reason I heard of him was because of a last.fm recommendation, but check the artists he's compared to: Drake, Blu, 88-Keys, Kid Cudi, Mickey Factz, and B.O.B. he doesn't even make the same style of music as any of them. lol It took me a few listens to get into his stuff.
Absolutely. The album is great, and my only concern now with it is playing it out. I'm trying not to play it too much so it stays fresh. I love everything about the album.

Re: Bball's Hip Hop Discussion
I thought I saw a review of somethting he did on 2dopeboyz, so idk if it was a tape or an album.
Btw, I really need to listen to Brooklynati right now. Ode To Tanya came up on my iTunes shuffle today and I have the urge to hear more Von Pea.
