what would be a real kick would be if self came to ku and won a national title his first year,that wouldnt make coach williams look to good.it may not be all that far fetched,they are returning a pretty good nucleus and have two bigtime recruits in giddens and padgett(lets assume padgett stays with his loi).

It's not far fetched at all as long as they can keep their recruits. Self's a great coach, and I'd be thrilled to have him at Kansas, I'd also love to see Creane or Few there. I just hope that they can get this settled and keep not only their recruits, but the guys they have right now. Who knows if they'll all stay. Simien will, he's a Kansas guy. But I know Langford's already threatened to leave. I just hope they can keep their players, then they'll be in great shape.

Man, I just hope we (Illinois) can keep Self. He just seems to fit in well here, and I have NEVER seen ANYONE recruit like he has. When has a Villanueva ever even considered Illinois? They are on a top national recruiting level suddenly!

I hate to think this way - but who comes here if Self (sniff!) leaves? Tom Crean? Or is this a big enough destination to pry him away? Is it the same list Kansas has? Mark Few? The Wichita State guy? Maybe Bobby Knight will come! (not.)

It would have to be a big name to have a chance at keeping Charlie. I even hear Warren Carter isn't a lock to stay if Bill leaves.

Well, even ol' Lou Do got Marcus Liberty, the #1 prospect in the country to come to Illinois.

But boy, I hate to lose Self. I'm not crazy about any of the guys that have been mentioned. Let Crean sit at Marquette and pine for the Mich St. job. It's bad enough to lose a coach to Kansas. Losing a coach to Mich or Mich St would be the worst.
