Three CBB Teams That Will Surprise You
We're only a couple weeks into the season, but that's still enough time to have discovered a few teams that most of us may have thought wouldn't have been that good but could end up turning into NCAA Tournament teams.
1. Missouri: I said that I thought this team might be a little underrated but that they still wouldn't finish in the top half of the Big 12. So far they've looked really good. Despite losing Keon Lawrence and most of their bench, they were just barely beaten by Xavier, the likely A10 champions who then went on to beat Memphis. Then, the Tigers beat 20th ranked USC by double digits. DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons are excellent players and they will look to carry this team on their backs.
2. Seton Hall: You have to give Seton Hall a lot of credit for what they did in Puerto Rico this week. They hung in there with Memphis and knocked off a ranked team in USC and a solid Virginia Tech team as well. What's surprising about that is they lost two of their most active players from last year so not many people had high hopes for them. Sophomore Jeremy Hazell looks like the real deal and Duquesne transfer Robert Mitchell is making an impact as well.
3. Siena: Most people know about them after they made their run to the Sweet 16 last season. What some might not realize is that they will likely end up getting an at-large bid if they somehow got upset in the MAAC Tournament. They've already crushed a couple of other decent mid majors, including defendy Ivy champion Cornell. They didn't lose much and are much more experienced this time around. Siena has 3 big non-conference games: Neutral - Tennessee, @ Pittsburgh, @ Kansas. They will win at least one of those and I have a feeling they could win 2 of the 3.
