Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

Okay, I was complaining on twitter about this and I don't know if anyone in the national media pointed this out but I need someone smarter than I am to explain this.

Devin McCourty gets a pass interference call when he's defending Jacoby Jones. The next play Joe Flacco gets the ball and downs it. So it's 2nd down for the Ravens with 43 seconds left and the Patriots have two timeouts. The Ravens were going to stop the clock before the kick. The Pats could have stopped the clock and gave their offense a chance to win the game.

Instead Belichick sat on his two timeouts waited for the Ravens to call their timeout, and when Tucker was about to kick they called TO to try and freeze the kicker. Freezing the kicker doesn't work! It doesn't work! It doesn't work! I just don't get it. This is the second week Belichick has been un-Belichick at the end of games.

Today it wasn't even as much his dumb decisions. He fumbled, and that's one of those things you just have to accept. But today the offensive line was a shit show. Demetress Bell is the third string tackle and he was beat all day. It looked like the game on Any Given Sunday when the O-Line hated Willie Beamon.

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

That's funny cause my Aunt was like she thinks his line doesn't block as hard for him because they still don't like him over the dog shit...which is ridiculous but funny cause he was running for his life so often today

I think this might be a good sign that they're confident in Kolb as their guy playing so hard in a game that probably meant a lot to him too

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

LOL. That sounds like something ridiculous I would say when I get mad watching games.

What surprised me was that Kolb was getting hit and pressured and he didn't look shaky. He didn't look like a great QB but he looked competent. I'm sure the Cardinals brass would rather have him hold the starting job with all the money they're paying him.

OH! And did anyone see this? I just found out about this last night and couldn't stop laughing:

Play to win the games NFL teams.

Play to win.

It's better to go down swinging instead of clinging on for dear life in fear of losing.

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

If I'm the Kansas City Chiefs I'm hoping the Cowboys don't re-up with Tony Romo so I can pounce on him. He'd be a perfect fit there and wouldn't be required to carry as much of the load.

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

I like that idea. I was never huge fan of him but he's good enough. Yeah, watching last night especially, Romo is getting no help. People ripping on him when he his WRs have stone hands. It got out of hand only because he started forcing things over the middle after multiple drops or no one was open and had to try to do something, like fluky weird strip INT that turned into a TD. Dez Bryant sucks. Broncos made right the decision in Demaryius Thomas.

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

Radio host was talking about the QBs he'd take over Vick. He included RG3 and then followed that up by saying "I'm not sure about Philip Rivers." C'mon, Rivers is better than RG3.

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

He'll regress to the mean some, but Ryan has had only 1 300 yard passing game. With more attempts than previous years, he could still throw for a bunch of yards. I don't care, just keep those INT's down.

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

Sean Weatherspoon is on pace for 118 tackles, 10 sacks, 6 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles.

I don't think he can stay on that pace for sacks. James Harrison is the only player to have 10+ sacks and 100+ tackles in the past 10 years, except Atlanta only plays 3 LB's most of the time. He should at least get a Pro Bowl invite tho. Deserved it last year.

Re: NFL Random Thoughts 2012

Eagles defense doesn't adjust.

They have two really good LBs in Ryans and Kendricks but the third spot is a complete hole. I wouldn't be surprised if Casey Matthews ends up the starter by the end of the year.

Nnamdi Asomougha isn't the same guy he was in Oakland, or if he is he's not able to be the same guy because he can't keep his hands on WRs. It really sucks to see because when everyone in the area was clamoring for him I wanted Carlos Rogers. The combination of Rogers and Rogers-Cromartie would be kinda great. Ah well. I don't think Nnamdi will see past this year in Philly unless he takes a sizeable pay cut.
