Exactly. Maybe they just want to have Jefferson keep the number not just this season, but beyond? Knowing Walker won't be back?

That is not directly from the league, if true, why does Webber have a new number?
There at least must be a way to make exceptions. Besides Webber, someone else mentioned Jordan. Yes he changed numbers mid-season.

I am wondering why they will not give him the number back. I said maybe because they do not think he will be there next year?

Toine found out last night that Webber got Igoudala's # right away...Al is willing to give Antoine the #8....supposedly Philly asked the league so I think Antoine might do the same in Boston.

I hope he does that soon because Antoine is number eight for the Celtics. Even if its on Al's jersey, its still Antoine's number.
