Thumbs up Got to be liking Pierce's Play

He has been really impressive ever since Walker returned. He has shot close to 50%, has taken his share, or fewer, of shots, and maybe not filling up the stat sheet as much but he is doing what the team needs him to do to win, and we have been WINNING!!!!!! Tonight against detroit was a perfect example, 38 pts 12 reb w/ some assists and steals and a block to seal the game. a respectable 11-25 from the floor including 2-4 from 3 and 14-15 from the line AND NO TURNOVERS. and thats just the stats aspect of his recent improvement. I think we are a big player in battling to win the east after Miami.

Re: Got to be liking Pierce's Play

When you can beat the Detriot Pistons with Walker having the worst game I've ever seen, with Ricky Davis fouling out, then you gotta be doing something right.

Man this team should not be taken lightly.

As mentioned in an article a few days ago, getting back Walker was like getting back 2 all-stars. Pierce was the man tonight.

Re: Got to be liking Pierce's Play

I always thought it was a mistake to trade Walker. He makes Paul better on and off the floor. On the floor, he can draw defenders away from Paul and let him operate more freely. Off the floor, he takes the heat off Paul. He's always been professional about things even when crap was thrown on him constantly. I knew with the right players around them and a good coach, Pierce and Walker could get even better. Unfortunately, Walker had to go away for them to see that. This is what I wanted to see the season Walker was traded away - a real point guard, a third scorer, quality role players and young talent, and a coach who wanted to run. It's still early in the new Walker era, but I don't see how they could collapse. I think the Pistons game is indicative of what Walker brings. He may not have a great night statistically, but he brings things to the table that don't show up on the stat sheets - namely heart. Walker is a motivator. Without him, I think they would've lost that game because nobody can motivate Pierce like Walker can.

Re: Got to be liking Pierce's Play

Thinking back to that time that is exactly what everyone wanted on this team and you just brought to my attention that this is EXACTLY the type of team we wanted and constantly talked about.

Re: Got to be liking Pierce's Play

We still need a Center, but Blount and Reaf are doing pretty good.
