Great game against the Hornets!
Great game against the Hornets! The Celtics hung around the entire game and then came out in the 4th quarter and put the clamps on the Hornets. The C's team defense was amazing! Great pressure on the ball, quick help and hustle, hustle, hustle made it very enjoyable to watch. The Hornets went over 8 minutes without a field goal, UNREAL!
Eric Williams deserves a special salute for shutting down Mashburn down the stretch.
Paul had some troubles hitting shots but was splendid from the free throw line. I do not blame him for struggling. He is getting no easy shots. The point guards for Boston had trouble getting the ball up the floor and then once they did they were not hitting anyone for open shots. The offense became pass to Paul on the wing, he worked the dribble to get a good shot while two or three defenders moved on him, then one of them would hack him as he shot. This seems to be the new method to throw Pierce off his game: foul him every time he touches the ball. The refs call some of the fouls but they never get them all.
Delk had troubles with the point but did shoot very well.
Walker seemed frustrated some of the game, invisible some of the game and tough some of the game. He was good enough to put pressure on the low post and hit some great shots down low. He still is shooting too many bad three pointers. I love it when he takes it to the hole. He is more effective inside, it opens up good threes for him, and it opens up the outside for Delk, Pierce and Shammond.
I thought Baker played okay. I am still patiently waiting for him to contribute more points. I would like to see him step up when Paul and Antoine are having cold spells. If he would then the team would start looking for him more often and it would lead to more playing time.
Now comes the Texas three step. I do not think that we should dread this trip. No one is expecting anything from the C's so if they get a couple wins in Texas then it will be a bonus.
