To like or to love that is the question...

Quote:
Grousbeck added that the new ownership would also like cocaptains Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce to remain with the Celtics for the rest of their careers. He praised their leadership and ''devotion to the team'' and called Pierce and Walker ''the building blocks of the Celtics' next championship run.''
Quote:
They will ''spend to win'' and will pay the luxury tax at least for the next two years in an effort to keep the current core of players together and to continually make the Celtics as competitive as possible.
Quote:
They have named the company that will sign the Celtics paychecks ''Banner 17.'' And not to worry, they have also preserved the names ''Banner 18'' and ''Banner 19.''
Quote:
When the Celtics make their playoff run, Wyc Grousbeck wants ''the whole town to be green.''
Wow I LOVE THESE GUYS

Quote:
''We're going to pay it [the luxury tax] in years where we need to do it to be competitive. But it's not going to be every single year. We are planning to pay it next year heavily because we see a chance to win next year and this year, and we're paying both years because of that.''
Listen to this guys.

Quote:
Q: In terms of the investment, was $360 million worth it?

Wyc: ''Priceless. There's only one Boston Celtics.''
"Priceless"

Quote:
Do you find yourself wanting to take your frustrations out on referees lately?

''We don't need to talk about the officiating. Tommy Heinsohn's out front on that.'' [Laughter]
Quote:
Q: Where would you like the franchise to be one year from now, five years from now, 10 years from now?

Bob: ''NBA champion. NBA champion. NBA champion.''
They haven't done much, but I love them already....and everyone who's a Celtic fan will love them too.
Its the best thing that could have happened. (After Mark Cuban of course).

NICE!

Thanks for the quotes!

Very enjoyable reading!

It is great to have owners who understand that this is the Boston Celtics and winning is the main goal - not the financial bottom line.

Of course, to this point, all this is just lip service, but it is the kind of lip service that gets fans interested and starts us dreaming about the free agents that we may land for the playoffs. I was always frustrated by Paul "Thanks Dad" Gaston. He never seemed to realize that if you spend and win then the money you spend will come back to the franchise.

I do think that the time is now to invest in players who can help in the playoffs. With Antoine and Paul just entering their primes the Celtics need to surround them with guys who can win now. It is also reassuring that the new ownership wants to keep the current core of players together. A team gets so much stronger by playing together for a long time. Look at how the USA team got beat by teams that had less talented players but were unified teams.

Now if this talk becomes reality we will have something to cheer for.

This years FA is gonna be great, there will be some great average players. Can we sign someone with a mid exception to a 6 year deal with a 10% raise each year?

I can imagine Gaston now...(counting his money)...

"359,999,996 dollars, 359,999,997 dollars, 359,999,998 dollars, 359,999,999 dollars...hey wait a second those guys riped me off, one dollar is missing. "
