OT: Gordon cooling off?
April Stats...
6 games, 25.5 mpg, 3.0-12.2 (from the field), .5-3.3 (behind the arc), 1.7 asp, 11.3 ppg
His ppg has dropped below his seasonal average, and his assist per game has also dropped a bit following 3 straight months over over 2 asp.
In comparision Ricky Davis has picked up his game...
April stats...
6 games, 7.0-14.0 (from the field), 1.0-2.8 (behind the arc), 4.3 asp, 22.2 ppg.
In the stretch Davis has performed better than his season averages across the board (except for his 3 point shooting).
Will this month play big in the mind of those whom vote for 6th man of the year?

Right now, Ricky Davis has the edge statistically but does anyone get the feeling I have, that Ricky's gonna get screwed out of it because he was a head case in the past? Maybe it's just me.

Re: OT: Gordon cooling off?
I think the majority of the sports writers are in Gordon's corner simple because he is a more traditional 6th man because of the minutes he plays. Ricky has the highest scoring average of any player coming off the bench in the past ten years, but he also probably is playing more minutes than any of those players as well.
I'm not saying that I don't think Ricky deserves the award because I really think he does, but I can see why he might get snubbed and yes, previous attitude problems probably does impact that decision amongst voters.

Re: OT: Gordon cooling off?
I think its pretty obvious that Gordon misses Curry's post offense. He's being smothered with double and triple teams on the perimeter. Watch his numbers improve if and when Eddy returns.

Yep...I've been worried about that happening. Most people who aren't Celtic fans still think of Ricky as a headcase, showboat, troublemaker, etc. They don't realize that he has for the most part been a perfect citizen since joining the C's and he has matured a lot since he got the bad rap early in his career. They also don't know how valuable he is to this team. There's a lot of politics involved in most of the post-season awards and I think that if it comes down to Gordon and Davis like it looks like it will, I'm betting that Ricky gets screwed based on his image alone. It wouldn't be the first time a more deserving player has gotten screwed out of an award in favor of a player who was more popular or had a better image. I hope I'm wrong, but I won't be surprised if I am right.

Re: OT: Gordon cooling off?
Gordon has been Consistently Inconsistent ALL SEASON, he'll light it up for 10 games and then disapear for 10 games. That does not a 6th man of the year make. If he was to win this award over Ricky who has been the picture of consistency for this team this season that would be a great unjustice. And yes, I share the fear that Ricky's past reputation could hurt his chances and that would be very sad. When he first came to Boston I didn't like him either, thought he was trouble and a head case, he has won me over with his team work and level head.

Re: OT: Gordon cooling off?
Davis should probably win it, his role with the Celtics is bigger than Gordons with the Bulls, as evidence by the minutes. Gordon can get hot and deliver a heroic performance, and he has done it, but he has also shot the team right out games too, so they offset. Gordon is a little too trigger happy at this point (4th in the league in FGAper48), and Davis is also a much better all around player.

Uh, Gordon RARELY plays the point even though he has shown that he could. And he rarely if ever shoots us out of games. He usually comes into the game when we are down 10-15 points.
