Re: Leni-Ukic????
All kidding aside, I don't understand the fascination about West. Sure, he's a good shooter, but he's streakier than Donyell Marshall. He doesn't play good defense and he has a below average passing ability. I would love for him to prove me wrong, but I think he's a wasted selection.

Delonte averaged 4.7 apg his junior year at st. joe's, playing out of position at the 2...that's more than jarrett jack did playing at PG this year.
Also, he is the 4th best SG on the team whereas he's arguably the best PG.
That said, he didn't do much to show that he's going to be a great NBA player. I think there's still a chance that he turns into a solid role player but I'll be surprised if he is much more than that. I think we'll have a better idea as to whether he can play or not next year.

Re: Leni-Ukic????
Well, it's not very hard for Delonte to pass it to Jameer Nelson and watch him score. Yes, Jack had Eric Williams, among others, but his court awareness is superior to that of West's.
Explain how West could be better than Banks.

Re: Leni-Ukic????
Not on any planet that I'm aware of. And the highest I'll go on Banks is that I think he'll be a capable reserve. West has a terrible handle and no first step. This is why he's incapable of achieving dribble penetration, making it a lot harder for the offense to operate when he's quarterbacking. He also makes extremely questionable decisions when pressured on defense. His poor handle acts as a double whammy because he tends to throw the ball wherever he can when he sees the pressure coming, and that's not always a good thing. Not even if the ball doesn't get turned over, because oft enough he sends the ball away from the developing play in his rush to get rid of it. In another couple of years he could turn in to an Erik Strickland type combo guard. In the meantime, sign me up for someone like Jarrett Jack who's shown the defensive skill necessary to play at this level combined with good quarterbacking skills. As an added bonus he has the sort of size that Doc likes, so he'd get plenty of play here. And Jack and Banks would be a seriously sick defensive combination. Opposing ones would get no relief from the pressure.

I couldn't disagree more. West has a knack for making the unsung impact play. When he gets big minutes he finds a way to score and the offense ran smoothly. He needs to be more consistent and he needs to improve his handles. I predict this guy will be a superior player in 2 years - maybe not all-star level but a super role player.

Re: Leni-Ukic????
The "unsung impact play"? Is 46 games enough to prove that he's a clutch player?

Re: Leni-Ukic????
West can make an impact in the NBA, however, he will never make it as a point guard. Its that simple.
