Lightbulb Gomes or Jefferson

I would rather have Gomes as the starting pf than Jefferson

Re: Gomes or Jefferson

Gomes. Jefferson is better suited off the bench.

C - Perkins / Jefferson / Olowokandi
PF - Gomes / Jefferson / Scalabrine

No, I am not forgetting LaFrentz and yes, I do think Al can play center for the rest of the season seeing how it doesn't matter at this point.

Tee hee.

I agree though, but it's really a shame that both Jefferson and Perkins are injured right now. What were the chances?

Re: Gomes or Jefferson

I think the way that Gomes has been playing definitely earned him some minutes, but Jefferson has shown that he can be an offensive option on the low block. This team's future depends on Jefferson's development in a lot of ways, so in my mind, the more minutes for Jefferson the better. Remember when Branden Hunter had a few huge nights a couple years ago, and then sort of faded out of the league? An undersized big man like Gomes can be a good role player, but hopefully not a cornerstone of a franchise.

Re: Gomes or Jefferson

Gomes - Perkins is a better frontcourt though. Imagine the rebounding possibilities. Gomes also plays on the perimeter so he can spread the offense and sneak in for offensive rebounds. Jefferson should not be getting major minutes just for the sake of his ankle. If Al injures it again, I don't think he'll fully recover. Plus, we need to motivate Al and make him earn the starting position. He doesn't seem to be working as hard as he did in the playoffs last season and it doesn't make sense to hand over the starting position to him when he hasn't played exceptionally this season.

True, either way I think it will create some nice competition with our two young power fowards. One being the proven college player the other being the high school kid. Could be fun to watch as long as Doc doesn't butcher the situation.

Doc Rivers will be remember as the guy that got them Mr Howard.

As far as earning your minutes, I agree with Prem. Al has played "all right" this year only. Maybe it's that he's guarded more cautiously now, but either way he's not playing like he used to.

Re: Gomes or Jefferson

Besides Gomes finally getting some PT (no thanks to Doc) the best thing that could come from this is for Gomes play to put a fire in AJ's *** and for him to now realizr he will not just be given playing time. He'll have to fight Doc for it.

That is unless Doc puts Gomes back on the bench. I'd riot.

Re: Gomes or Jefferson

Glen's not sure if Gomes should continue playing:

Quote:
When asked if Gomes's play has made him think about keeping the rookie in a starting role, Rivers said, ''I don't know that. I don't get into that kind of stuff. We'll see how that works out when it comes. We need size. So, we'll see."
I think it'd be hilarious if Gomes goes back to the bench.

Re: Gomes or Jefferson

It's AMAZING to me that not one writer/reporter from the Globe, Herald, or even national has asked:

How come Doc had Gomes rotting on the bench all season? Can he not see talent at practice? Does it take a damn injury to get a talented guy some PT?

In the midst of all this Gomes hype - Doc needs to be called out on this.
