That was the big knock on the guy last year. Great defender and penetrator, but a subpar shooter.
For whatever reason, he seems to have a nice stroke over the past several weeks, especially from the arc and the 3-point line. His release seems to be much improved.
I know many on here, myself included, said that Tony Allen would never be that great of a shooter. I'm starting to think that maybe someone who is about 25 can still develop a good J in this league.

Don't worry about that, once he starts to heat up Doc will have him on the bench so fast it'll make your head spin.
I'm sorry, but the Celtics just do not know how to develop talent.
i'm glad to hear some improvement out of tony allen.. hopefully he keeps up the good work.. he was never that great of a shooter in college as i'm sure you guys know. more of a slashing/driving type player with some great athletic ability. he's tough as nails and i enjoy watching him play..

it's my personal forum, feel free to post absolutely anything. it's pretty quiet there now. make some noise...
Well during the summer they did say that his shooting had improved a lot. It's nice to see that it's still their considering he a) didn't know how to shoot, and b) he didn't play that much for so long. Then again you could make a case that since he couldn't be in the air that much any more that he had to get a new way of scoring.
He does look better as of late and recently hes definitely gotten his explosiveness, confidence and heart back.
I would agree that Tony is a slightly better shooter than a year ago but at the same time I still don't see a huge change in his stroke. I think he is feeling more confident but it is not like he is a bigtime shooter now.
