Al Harrington
I have heard through the tea leaves and grape vines...and my sources...that we will target Al Harrington. Thoughts?

Re: Al Harrington
I think he's a FA at the end of this season.

Re: Al Harrington
If there is no chance at becoming a contender (by getting Pierce a legitimate star big man and a good supporting cast), I don't see any point int signing decent players. Either we rebuild, or we place all of our commodities in winning now. We can't have both.
I think Harrington is a good player, but we can't sign him to a non-MLE deal unless Pierce, Szczerbiak, or LaFrentz are traded. If we do sign Harrington, Pierce is gone.

Re: Al Harrington
The only people I want to keep going into next year are...
Pierce
Gomes
Green
West
Jefferson
Perkins
Allen
Everyone else I could care less to see go. Harrington isn't anything special. He won't get us anywhere Pierce hasn't with or without Paul here.

I agree with everyone EXCEPT those guys. They just don't strike me as special players. Sure Tony Allen is exciting as all hell to watch, but he doesn't help a whole lot.

note to premeir...as long as duncan, shaq and the pistons are in the NBA noone other than their 3 teams are going to win a championship...so are we supposed to not sign good players because we arent gonna win one too??...id rather sign good playes and be in the top 5 in the east and have a good run in the playoffs than win 20 games and get high draft picks every year...only one team per year wins the championship...doesnt mean the other 29 shouldnt try to be as good as they can be

Re: Al Harrington
The point is that the Celtics won't be able to compete tying money into 'good' players at best. Without constantly vying for a franchise player or multiple star players (through the draft most likely), the Celtics won't even reach the ECF in the East for many years.

Re: Al Harrington
I like Harrington, but just as was earlier stated you have Paul looking at max money shortly, and Wally and Raef over 10 mil a year, now what if you could work a s&t where Atlanta would get Raef, Orien and a number one for Harrington and you would probably have to add another player from Atl to make it work, would you do that trade?

Re: Al Harrington
It wouldn't matter. Atlanta wouldn't. With their ownership (not afraid to spend money), I would expect them to be aggressive in free agency in the next two seasons (especially '07). They wouldn't want to add unnecessary payroll fodder like LaFrentz, who wouldn't have a role behind Pachulia and their draft pick (either Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas, or LaMarcus Aldridge).
