The Boston Celtics held off late surges by the Dallas Mavericks to win 91-85 on Saturday afternoon at the Toshiba Vegas Summer League. The Mavericks pulled within two points at various moments late in the fourth quarter, but watched Boston maintain its lead before creating some breathing room with half a minute remaining in the game thanks to two Gerald Green free throws. Boston held a 53-46 halftime lead, but watched Dallas cut the deficit to three points after three quarters of play. The Mavericks played evenly with the Celtics in the waning moments, but Boston kept the score in its favor until the final buzzer.

The Celtics was paced by five players in double figures with Ryan Gomes leading all scorers with 29 points (12-18 FG) in 37 minutes of play. Sebastian Telfair threw in 17 points and dished out six assists. Gerald Green had 12 points, while Al Jefferson and Allan Ray dropped in 10 points apiece.

For the game, Boston shot 53 percent (35-66 FG) from the field, while Dallas connected on 47 percent (31-66 FG) of its attempts.

Why isn't Scalabrine playing in the summer league? He could use a work out to get rid of his 74% body fat.

Or are they keeping him out because they're scared that in the middle of the game he'll go nuts and jump on someone's shoulder?
