Re: RIP Dennis Johnson
Wow, what a shocker.
It's been an awful last two weeks for me, this certainly doesn't make it any better on the Celtics front.
This is a season from hell.

Re: RIP Dennis Johnson
a very very sad loss for the boston celtics and the nba in general, growing up a celts fan(until LB retired) i saw the last 6 years of dj's career and he was in my eyes with Michael Jordan the best defensive guard in nba history. Why he isn't in the hall of fame is a mystery, he was also a very deserving 5 time all star and scorer of 15,535 nba points he will be sorely missed by me and by the seattle sonics also
RIP D.J

Re: RIP Dennis Johnson
also he was the 1979 nba finals mvp and who could forget THAT steal in game 5 of the 87 eastern conference finals, one of the greatest steals in nba history

Re: RIP Dennis Johnson
That play does more for me in terms of Legend than it does DJ, but certainly a great one.

yes - but when I am reminded of that play I think of both Bird and DJ.

Simmons on DJ: DJ should have made Springfield while still alive

Now, the angry part: DJ passed away before the Basketball Hall of Fame found a place for him. He's going to make it within the next few years -- probably in 2008, when everyone gives him the proverbial sympathy vote (this summer's finalists have already been announced and he wasn't one) -- and they'll have the ceremony without him in Springfield, Mass., and everyone will say, "It's a proud day, but it's also a bittersweet day because DJ wasn't here to see it," and then they'll put up his plaque and we'll go on with our lives.

Could not agree more.

Re: RIP Dennis Johnson
This news hit me HARD this morning, TRAGIC absolutely tragic. DJ was one of my hero's growing up. His game was awesome. He will be truly missed. WAY WAY TOO YOUNG to die. He belongs in the Hall of Fame and should have been inducted long ago. TRAGIC. It's a very sad day for Celtics nation.

Re: RIP Dennis Johnson
A sad and shocking day, I was monitoring DJ as coach of the Austin toros and is in fact excited with their current winning streak. I was silently hoping that they win it all in NBDL and DJ would become the next coach of the Celtics. Oh well, this really sucks. What a year this is for Boston. 1st, Red, 2nd, the various injuries, then now, DJ. To DJ rest in peace. Guess it's true, good guys go young.
