Paul Sounds Fed Up
I read an article today (I can't find it now or I'd post it) in which Paul was basically stating either we are gonna get serious or we're gonna keep pretending. He said that it's another wasted season and he wants this team assembled to make a deep playoff run not just barely make it in next year. He said he'd market Boston to Garnett, J O'Neill, Boozer, Gasol...and that he likes all those guys. He also said he likes playing with Al....that we need to see who's marketable in a trade etc.....
This to me is a warning that if things don't shake up quickly Paul could want out sooner rather than later. Durant or Oden of course would change all that I'm sure.

He doesn't really say anything that he hasn't already. It doesn't really worry me though becuase I think Ainge is well aware that he NEEDS to do something this summer.

Re: Paul Sounds Fed Up
Antoine Walker would be a good beggining. But aside from him, I don't know if Ainge can trade for other player that can fit well with Pierce and help him reaching a better level.

Does Paul think he's covering any new ground here, who wouldnt want Jermaine, KG or Gasol and also draft Oden or Durant, it isnt MLB where you can have a 200 million dollar payroll, all teams play by the same rules and nobody is giving those guys away, something tells me Pierce knew that, just looking for a little attention.

Re: Paul Sounds Fed Up
Same song, different verse. To paraphrase the old joke...how do you know Pierce is saying something stupid...his lips are moving
They discussed this a little during halftime of last nights game and one of the commentators basically said the same thing I have been saying every time Pierce starts crying...if you don't like the situation you don't sign a max level contract. Become a free agent and go where you want. Pierce chose to take the money so as far as I am concerned he forfieted any right to ***** and moan about things. He should be a man and just shut up and fulfill his contract. He is not entitled to a championship, an all-start berth, commercials and promos, or anything else except a paycheck. The rest of that stuff he has to earn. If he doesn't feel like he can do it with the C's he should have turned down the extension and left town. Other players have decided that they wanted to win more than they wanted the money and taken less than they might could have in order to go to a team where they felt like they had a better chance of winning. It's all about priorities. Pierce wants to have his cake and eat it too and that's not how it works in the real world.

Re: Paul Sounds Fed Up
You guys should reunite Shimmy and Paul. I'm sure the Heat would do something along the lines of Walker for Jefferson.

Unfortunatly the NBA is not really the real world. Pierce knows the NBA is a buisness so he took advantage of the situation he was in and signed an extension. Unfortunatly there is nothing that a team can do from stopping a player from demanding a trade. And if Pierce feels that the team is not going to win, expect him to do so.

True, he can demand anything he wants (and I'll be shocked if he doesn't) but the team is under no obligation to give him anything other than his paycheck. He signed a contract...period. If he says "I demand a trade" and the C's tell him to shut up and play his only option is to refuse at which point the team can suspend him without pay. If that happens you can expect Pierce will cry to the players union about how unfairly he is being treated and they will file a grievance and all it will do is hurt the team and further degrade his image which will make the better teams less willing to accept him. It will also solidify my opinion of him as a selfish ***** but that's just my personal opinion .
In the end I expect that he will continue to complain and will probably be traded for some other teams problem and neither he nor the C's will be better off. When his contract expires he might be lucky enough to sign a low buck deal with a championship caliber team and ride them to a ring but otherwise his best bet is to man up and play. If he's not happy he should quit mouthing off to the media and go to Ainge privately and ask him to consider a trade. This way he isn't hurting his image (and thus his value) or the teams barganing position and a trade could be worked out that is in the best interest of both Pierce and the C's.

Re: Paul Sounds Fed Up
"It's definitely another year gone by for me," Pierce said. "It's another year we don't get into the postseason. It's another year I don't get recognized for the things I do. I'm the classic case of a great player on a bad team, and it stinks."
"We're not on a winning team, and as long as that's true, I don't get recognized as one of the top players in the league. We're never on TV. I wasn't part of the All-Star Game [this season]. We just don't get the benefit of so many other things that winning teams get."
"I want to be recognized for what I've accomplished," Pierce said. "That may sound selfish, but I've sacrificed a lot. I want to win. That's all I want. Most great players are selfish.
Interesting how a player that some feel is so unselfish seems only to be interested in himself IN HIS OWN WORDS!!! He even admits he is selfish yet qualifies that by saying that most great players are selfish as if he thinks he is great (good undoubtedly but great??? Not in my book!). He claims to have sacrificed a lot...exactly what would that be? What sacrifices has he made to help the C's? Sure, Pierce wants to win games, that's undeniable, however he apparently only wants to win to boost his own ego and could care less about the rest of the team. In just the above qoutes he uses the terms I or Me 11 times and the term We 4 times? Yep, if he were any more caring about others he'd make Mother Teresa look bad. He doesn't care if he wins with the C's or with another team as long as he gets what he wants. I'm sure his teammates love being referred to as a bad team and are greatful to have the opportunity to be on the same team with someone who thinks so highly of them. I hope they don't feel to unworthy of playing along side such a self-proclaimed "great". If he was really serious about wanting to win and and wants to do it with the C's this is NOT the way to go about it.
#1AWF, I agree with you on one point, I sure don't want a player like this on my team either

Re: Paul Sounds Fed Up
I honestly don't care about any player's off-court actions as long as they show up during games and produce at a high level. If Pierce wants to win for the wrong reasons, I don't mind. If the Celtics can somehow construct a winning team, all will be well.
