What could've been-
Had things not gone so messed up for the greatest team in N.B.A history this could've been a potential championship contender way back in the DARK AGES (mid to late '90's)
Coach- Chris Ford
PF- Len Bias
SF- Rick Fox
C- Eric Montross
PG- Sherman Douglas
SG- Reggie Lewis
PF- Dino Radja (Sixth Man)
SF/SG- Kevin Gamble
PG- David Wesley
SG- Dee Brown
I don't give a crap what anyone'll tell me!
This team would have been very interesting to watch!
I even liked Montross who had a very decent rookie and second year!
Especially Bias and Lewis as a team! The sky could've been the limit!
I like Radja off the bench as the team's sixth man (Perfect European type role player in those days)

Re: What could've been-
welcome to the board, lucky...and yes we couldve been great...but thats the way life is for c's fans in 2007...dreaming of what couldve been instead of having any hope in what can be in the future...we can thank the front office and our good ol' gm for that

Re: What could've been-
AW I know how you feel about Ainge - but you can't blame Bias and Lewis on him.
And welcome Lucky Leprechaun 33. But if I were doing a "what-could-have" been post, it would not include Montrose or Sherm - or about anyone on your list (players that died - that was tragic, not poor team management). I would however put Joe Johnson, Billups, etc.

somehow, someway...both lenny and lewis are ainges fault...i just know it
seriously, though, my post may have been a little confusing...i am saying that if we had any sort of path at all from our current front management, we wouldnt have to think of what could have been...we could be thinking of what can happen...but the way the celtics are going, what can happen is more losing seasons...bring KG to beantown danny!!!

Re: What could've been-
Actually with the most utmost respect I wouldn't only because in my mind the Bias/Lewis era would have been seperate of the Walker/Pierce/Pitino era.
Bias was drafted in '86 and died that very night.
Lewis was around for a bit but passed in '93.
Walker came in '96 (I was in NJ during draft night and saw him selected!)

After the Joe Barry Carroll swap for Mchale and Chief you had to know there was going to be a couple of decades of bad karma, not 3 decades though.

Re: What could've been-
If I were a Celtics fan, I'd be much more upset that I missed out on Brandon Roy for Telfair, and that I lost the ability to get Oden or Durant.
Oden/Durant, Piece and Roy = nice position in the East.
That team you mentioned would be nothing special...perhaps a .500 team.

You don't really know that man.
Why?
You nor I have any real way of ever gaging how good Bias would've really been?
Nor howe much further Lewis would've risen had he lived.
Radja, Montross, Brown, Gamble, Douglas, Fox, etc...
All important role players!

Re: What could've been-
Yeah, and if I'd been born in Justin Timberlake's shoes, I'd be sleeping my way through all of young Hollywood's hottest ladies. But I wasn't, so I set my sights a tad lower than Scarlett Johansson, accept it, and move on.
The Celts need the same thing. Except to move on, they need a new coach and GM. So I guess, to continue my metaphor, the Celts are still 15 year olds who think they can be Justin Timberlake someday even though they're crippled by, in this case, incompetence rather than teenage zits.
