OK I did some thinking this morning and I think I now know what the Celtics are up to in this draft. Alright first I'm expecting them to take Corey Brewer, simply because Doc loves him and I would hope the FO is smart not to waste a pick on a softie China guy who plays the same position as Jefferson. Next I think they're going to trade Gerald Green to either the Sixers (for the 12 pick) or the Bobcats (with Gomes or Allen or some other pencil pusher for 8 and 21), and take Nick Young. I don't think the C's were working him out for ****s and giggles and I think they trying to get him somehow. As for why we'd essentially trade Gerald Green for another SG, I thought about it, and are we even sure how much this franchise likes Gerald? I mean for all we know Ainge could have selected him two years for the pure fact that he was just there (or to be part of a future trade). Anyways I've been hearing the C's are in love with Young. Next if they do the Charlotte deal and have the 21 pick, I think they will/should flip it somewhere for a veteran point guard (not a star or anything, just some insurance in case Rondo runs into trouble in year two). Next at 32 (in the 2nd round) I think the C's plan to fill their center void w/ Sean Williams. he plays defense, and if nothing he's an Eagle so have some town pride. This leaves us with a future nucleus of Rondo, Young and Brewer as our future perimeter tandem (they complement each other well since Brewer's a lockdown defender who isn't great offensively, and Young can shoot like hell but can't guard a rock), and Jefferson is the main building block down low. Obviously if we have both Young and Brewer, Pierce is probably going to have to go somewhere at some point, and my gut feeling is Pierce will not be a Celtic by the time 2008-2009 training camp opens, b/c at that point Jefferson should be ready to be the man.
LOL watch there be some kind of trade within 20 minutes to throw all this out the window...
