Gomes coming back in Celtic Green?
Who knows, but this is an email I got from a friend:
Quote:
Minny has 18 players and need to release somebody. Hudson was the first to go, so I wonder who is next. Latest rumor:
""Rumor has Gomes will be back!
Not to get too many of you excited but, I heard this morning that Gomes may be back if he is cut by the Timberwolves.
Currently the Wolves have 18 on their roster and need to cut down to the mandatory 15, so there is a chance that Gomes may be let go which may mean he'll be coming back.
Don't quote me on this, but someone I know mentioned it to me this morning. It's almost a wink wink with the Wolves, similar situtation that happened a couple of years ago when we made the trade with Atlanta and Gary Payton was part of the deal and was cut immediately right after.

Nope.
- Gary Payton Rule: Players will have to wait 30 days in the regular season (20 days in the offseason) before being allowed to sign with the team that traded them away.

Re: Gomes coming back in Celtic Green?
If a friend sends you an email that the Patriots traded Brady for Jeff Garcia, will you believe that also?
NO WAY the Twolves release Gomes! He's now one of the best players on their roster.
You really think they'd dump Gomes over guys like Madsen, Telfair, Richard, Smith, Wright, and Blount?

Re: Gomes coming back in Celtic Green?
The T-Wolves would be stupid to release Gomes.
1) If this is a "wink-wink" situation between the teams, Minnesota certainly loses out on the overall deal because Gomes is a large part of why the deal is satisfactory for the them.
2) If they release him solely because they have 18 guys, they are retarded...Gomes is a young guy who got 12/5 in his second season. They have plenty of worse players than him that they should get rid of (Madsen, Jaric, Hassell, Richard).

Gomes is in the last year of a deal that pays under 800K. If they have to take the cap hit for out-right waiving a player, his hit would be the smallest.

Is that relevant though? If they are waiving someone they still pay the full contract, right (presuming it's guaranteed of course)? Therefore, from a financial perspective, it doesn't matter if they cut the 3 cheapest or 3 most expensive players. Or am I missing something?

Re: Gomes coming back in Celtic Green?
I doubt this would ever happen, but can you imagine if the Celtics were able to go out and sign House, Gomes and Brown/Deke after the KG trade?

yes they can. provided he is released from the roster. remember gary payton did a few seasons ago, when he was traded to atlanta in the trade that brought walker back to beantown, he refused to sign with the hawks, finished the year with celts and then later on signed with the heat.

that issue's already been covered..
Anyway, they're not gonna cut Gomes. Maybe Jaric, possibly Hassell (though I like him for that team) and definitely Bracey Wright (if he's still on the roster).. Not Gomes.

How well is the Knicks Starters vs NBA Team Starters? 60%? 50%? 40%? or are we waiting to see by being optimistic because we have a new additional player in the Starting lineup that we assume Stat sheet record says he is better with this Knick roster than the guy he is replacing?
