Kirilenko demands trade
link
Quote:
Kirilenko wrote in a blog post on the Russian Web site Sport Today that he was ready to leave Utah after six seasons.
"In a week, I need to join the Utah Jazz again, but quite frankly, I'm not really happy about that," wrote Kirilenko, who was named MVP of the EuroBasket tournament. "The past season was bad for me and I was really disappointed.
"I've thought about it a lot and I came to a decision. I want to leave Utah Jazz. The European championships that just ended became sort of a test for me and now I think I know what I want to do."
The blog post was translated by a member of Tribune staff.

Kirilenko also revealed that he approached Kevin O'Connor, the Jazz's senior vice president of basketball operations, a few weeks ago and asked to be traded.O'Connor did not return multiple messages Tuesday night.
" 'I told him that I don't see myself in the team and want to leave," Kirilenko wrote. "Quite clearly, Utah and me see my place and role in the team differently. I don't want myself and my contract to be a burden for the club. I want the club to continue in its own direction."

Impossible, unfortunately.
even in a 3 way deal nothing can really be worked out.. even to just make up salary there would end up with bigger holes in the roster (ie. giving up perk).
the only interest i see from them would be tony allen and even then theres nothing remotely of interest to the Jazz
his salary is too high

Kirilenko isn't a very productive player. There are many guys in the league that produces the same or more than he does.

I agree, don't go after him, try to get someone like Josh Smith, someone who is a monster shot blocker, and who can also fill in the points sheet.

incorrect...at least defensively...his statlines before last year were unreal...hed regularly have 3+ blocks steals assists sometimes even more than that...i think he had the record or something like that for games with 5+ points rebounds assists steals and blocks...he fills up statlines...we dont need someone to score with our 3 we need someone to do the other stuff and he would be perfect

Re: Kirilenko demands trade
He can't defend the 3, he can't defend the lane. Basically he's a crack whore's Kevin Garnett. We have the real thing, we don't need an unloaded AK-47.

AK can play either 3 or 4. The Celtics already have those spots filled with Pierce and Garnett. No way they would take a 15M contract player to put him on a bench behind two all-stars. Even if they had something to trade for him.

Re: Kirilenko demands trade
I like Kirilenko, but I don't see the point. He's not going to be starting and he's not worth that money off the bench. And, we don't have the players to send over.
I'd rather see another post wishing for the Brevin Knight era in Boston.

He needs to play power forward to be effective defensively and he would be a help defender, negating Garnett's biggest strength. He doesn't fit the offense very well since his shot leaves a lot to be desired and he is not worth his contract. Someone like Gerald Wallace or Andre Igoudala does what he does; only at a lesser price.
