Power Rankings
NBA Power Rankings

Boston #1
Key Stats- #2 in offense and #1 in defense
Don't see why people are so surprised with our D, its hard not to be a great defensive team with Garnett. Rondo and Perkins are also great, since defense is both their forte. Pierce is above average, he is always contesting shots and he can get steals. Allen is the only weak defender starting.

Re: Power Rankings
No complaints here. Boston is executing well and even better, taking full advantage of an easy schedule to start.

Re: Power Rankings
It wasn't the NBA's toughest schedule, but four out of the five teams Boston has played thus far were in the playoffs last year. Enough of this "Boston has had a cake schedule" nonsense.

Re: Power Rankings
how can you base everything off of last year? I'll admit, the schedule wasn't a cakewalk but the competition has been nowhere near great. Look at their records now, what they did last could mean less if teams like 1-5 wizards.
No one is discrediting the Celtics, you're being too sensitive. But this schedule, even boston fans has to admit, is nowhere near difficult.
The five teams you've faced so far combine for a record of 15-17 this season. No one said it's a cakewalk but do not even try for a split second to call these teams worthy competition.

Re: Power Rankings
The Celtics have been dominating both ends of the court so far, and frankly, I don't see it ending. As a Laker fan, this disgusts me.

It's not nonsense. None of the teams Boston has played are getting off to particularly strong starts to far. But that said, the Celtics deserve the early-season praise. Anyone who looks beyond the W-L columns and watches how they're playing the game can see that they've gelled ridiculously early, they're dominating on both ends, moving the ball exceptionally well, and pushing like they have something to prove. If they can hold the likes of the Wizards to 33% shooting, maybe they can hold the Spurs and Suns to 43% shooting. I'm loving this start for the Celtics.

Regardless, aside from Atlanta, these aren't bad teams. They're not San Antonio either, but there are a lot more teams like the Wizards than the Spurs in this league.

Re: Power Rankings
They are still teams that are likely to make the playoffs.. and are a possible match up for us, so regardless of how they have started its great to get an early win over them.
and anyone else for that matter lol.

yeaaaaaaaa and 5 of those losses came to the celtics...so outside of the c's they are 15-12...you cant use win/loss stats as a negative when the celtics contributed to the losses

Re: Power Rankings
The Nets were 4-1 when they met. The Nuggets are doing pretty well now. Atlanta had already beaten the Suns and the Mavs. But really, it's not just who they beat but how they beat them. Except for the Raptors, they trounced their opponents. The scores were often closer than they actually were, either because they put in the scrubs at the end or just relaxed after the game was already decided.
Of course, until they meet the Spurs, Rockets, Pistons, Mavs, and Suns, there will be skeptics. I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll do, too, as I'm not sure how they'll fare. Guys like House and Posey will be crucial in beating those teams.

Re: Power Rankings
In the NBA, any team is talented enough to contend with any other team. This isn't college football where Hawaii can play horrible teams and go undefeated. For the Celtics to destory almost every opponent they've faced so far says a lot about how they played in the first week of the season because they're beating teams that are capable of winning against any other team.

There's not series parity in the NBA (bad teams can't beat good teams 4 out of 7), but there is enough parity where any given team can lose on any given night. The 95-96 Bulls lost to the Raptors with this lineup (with reserves): Tracy Murray, Damon Stoudamire, Oliver Miller, Carlos Rogers, Alvin Robertson, Doug Christie, and Zan Tabak.
