There's no need for him. We have the best starting 2-3 in the league in Allen and Pierce, and backing them up you have Posey, who logged major minutes on a championship team, and Tony Allen, when healthy is a solid player. Use that money a roster space on a backup big man, since only Garnett, Davis and Perkins to some point look good.
Anyways, if Patterson is signed, there's more bad that can come out of it than good. He carries a lot of baggage, he's a sex offender, he would complain about playing time, and his style of play doesnt allow him to play off the ball. We already have good defenders at the wing in Posey, Pierce and Tony Allen.

I dont know, I feel pretty comfortable with where we are at the 2/3. IMO we need to get our hands on a 1 or a 4/5
Marcus! I'm finally home, man. I can FINALLY start watching games and provide mediocre commentary. But I'm digressing...
I definitely feel that, while Patterson could provide some good play for us, he does not really fill any voids that this team currently has. As a 6-5 SF who has no 3-point shooting OR freethrow skills, and does not exactly provide much other than a decent low-post presence, where does that put Ruben on our team? In terms of "undersized" post players, I'd rather see Big Baby banging around in the post than Ruben, to be quite honest. I feel as though he would just be an unnecessary addition to a team which would be much better off staying patient in a league where players are readily available over different parts of the season. We're 19-2. Let's enjoy the moment, keep an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality, and wait for more suitable free agents to hit the market, as opposed to pouncing on the first guy out there. Besides, if anything, we need another 4/5 guy. Another PF/C who can hit the boards, get some easy dunks/lay-ins, get to the ft line, and provide a low post presence. Rondo has proven to me that another PG should not be the Celtics priority for picking up a FA this season.
