Re: Garnett named Player of the Week
Not trying to bash Garnett or try to make this a Garnett vs Pierce argument (since its been established that Garnett is the best player on this team), Pierce deserved this more. It seems theres nothing he can do to get recognized, maybe a championship will wake people up and make them realize how good he is.

Re: Garnett named Player of the Week
eh... not reaaally, while i do see your point, Garnett will only recieve awards like this when he steps up his scoring, but his defensive impact is what wins us the most games IMO

Re: Garnett named Player of the Week
Pierce has been named PotW twice this season, so he doesn't go unnoticed. Both players played well during the road trip as well as several other players, but you can only give the award to one person. Whenever I watch Celtics games on national television, the commentators always praise Pierce, so I don't think he's being treated unfairly. I just think his days of individual glory are over, but that's good for the team and for him if he wants to win a championship. Kobe and Lebron will be in the spotlight, but if the Celtics win a championship, Pierce will have a ring before Lebron, and Kobe still wouldn't have proven he can win a championship by himself (which is kind of absurd anyway because nobody can).

Eh? Pierce's situation will be worse than Kobe's, because he'll have two other great players around him.

Re: Garnett named Player of the Week
I'm just saying that the knock on Kobe has been that he couldn't win a championship by himself (i.e. without Shaq), but I think that's absurd because no one player ever leads a team to a championship. Even Jordan had help. And Shaq had Wade with him when he won in Miami. But Kobe was criticized for supposedly demanding the Shaq trade. Now that he has Gasol and Bynum, it won't be by himself. But anyway, my point was that if the Celtics win a championship, it won't matter if Kobe or Lebron get MVP because they'll both still be frustrated. I wasn't saying that Pierce would do it alone. That's obviously not the case.
