ESPN analyst comments about the C's
Did anyone catch the ESPN anaylst this afternoon and his comments about the Celtics. I just caught a little of it, but he made one comment that jumped out at me. He said that he would be surprised if Pierce was with the team next year. He said that it was obvious he wasn't happy by the way he has been playing lately and that his value would only drop if they didn't trade him. The last few games it has looked to me like they have been trying to showcase Pierce and that would sure explain why. Lately if anyone other than Pierce gets on a roll they are benched so fast it makes their head spin. The Seattle game was a perfect example. Hunter was coming off a great game and didn't get on the floor until a couple of minutes left in a blowout. Mihm got 10 rebounds in the first half then didn't start the second half. Welsch starts the second half, hits 4 or 5 quick shots, then goes to the bench. In the meantime, Pierce is out there shooting away even when it was obvious the game was over. Anyone who didn't watch the whole game might look at the box score and think he had a pretty good game, but he wasn't even playing defense and the entire offense was set up to get him as many shots as he wanted. If Ainge is trying to showcase Pierce, who do you think he will try to get for him??? There were some rumors floating around before the trade deadline but most of those were just pipe dreams. Realistically, who is out there that might be available and who would be a good fit?

Well, as a Bulls fan, I know I'd like to see Pierce in Chicago.
Don't know if Tyson Chandler, Jamal Crawford, and a 2005 1st round pick (unprotected) would get the job done, but I'm sure you've heard worse proposals.

I dont see you guys getting a player of the same caliber in return if you trade Pierce. That being said, trading him is probably your best option since the team as it is sure doesnt seem to be working out.

Are we showcasing Pierce, or just running the same silly offense that we've been running for a few years now?

I'm with you Agoo. Yoiu don't need to showcase someone who takes 20+ shots every night lol. Having said that, I wish that Danny would trade him. As I've been saying for months now, he poisons the offense.
The mainstream press is finally noticing Pierce's terrible play. Take a look at Peter May's column in today's Globe.

What's the point of showcasing someone right after the deadline? I just think Carroll has the same if not worse rotations as OB.

No Way
There is no way the Celts trade Pierce, he is just going to have to suck it up through the rest of this year until we retool for next year, there are only a handful of people in the league you trade pierce for and unless we are getting T-Mac, Kobe, LeBron, Ray Allen, or someone like that in return there is no way.

Ray Allen...maybe, the others you'd have to include 5 1st overall picks too.
Pierce isn't going to get traded, Danny loves Pierce and would do anything Pierce wants.

It's true, Danny loves Peirce, he's not trading him. Also....why would he look happy, his team SUCKS and he's having one of the worst seasons of his career (yes his numbers are good still but if you watch the games like I do you know). And we are not showcasing Peirce, we are just very obviously tanking the season so if a guy is doing well he finds himself on the bench because I don't think we are exactly "trying" to win right now
Like Big John said, that's why Hunter and Perkins are not playing, we might win

Danny is not trading Pierce. The owners would fire him before that happens.
Trading Pierce is not the answer. Haven't we learned that trading away players for garbage isn't going to work.
BUILD, Build, Build.
I love these Chicago trade idea's. Didn't we get this bad already when we traded for half of Clevelands team from last year. Now you want us to be the Bulls?

Ya know what?
You never know.
Say Mitch Kupcheck (sp?) comes calling... saying there's no way Phil is coming back, and Kobe is going to walk.
Kobe and Danny somehow get along (who knows..) and he Bryant agrees to a sign and trade to the Celts for Pierce.
Pierce goes home to LA, the Lakers don't lose that much in terms of talent, and Kobe gets to go to the Lakers arch nemesis and try to prove he can win on his own.
I wouldn't put money on it, but its not out of the realm of possibility.
