Scouting Report:
Schilling didn't dominate the Angels in his Game 1 start in the ALDS, but he earned the win after allowing two earned runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings. Schilling is 6-1 in 12 postseason starts with a 1.74 ERA.

Mussina was outdueled by the Twins' Johan Santana in Game 1 of the ALDS. The righty allowed two runs in seven innings.

In six appearances, including five starts, over the past two postseasons, Mike Mussina has posted a 1-3 record despite a 3.22 ERA. Over 36 1/3 innings, the Yankees' hard-luck right-hander has allowed 37 hits and nine walks while striking out 39.

Game 2 Starters

Pedro Martinez, RHP (16-9, 3.90) @ Jon Lieber, RHP (14-8, 4.33)

Scouting Report:
Martinez, who entered the postseason with his first four-game losing streak of his career, silenced many critics by holding the Angels to six hits and three runs over seven innings in Game 2 of the ALDS. His final pitch of the night was a 94 mph fastball that went right by Chone Figgins for strike three.

Lieber allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings in he first postseason start of his career. He did not get a decision in the Yankees' 7-6 win over the Twins in Game 2 of the ALDS.

Game 3 Starters

Kevin Brown, RHP (10-6, 4.09) @ Bronson Arroyo, RHP (10-9, 4.03)

Scouting Report:
Brown struck out just one and allowed eight hits -- but only one run on Jacque Jones' first-inning homer -- in Game 3 of the ALDS. Brown is 5-4 in his postseason career with a 3.45 ERA. He's fanned 69 in 78 1/3 innings.

Arroyo cruised through the first six innings of Game 3 of the ALDS against the Angels. He allowed two runs on three hits while striking out seven.

Game just started. Bottom of the 1st. Mussina is looking really good. 1-2-3 innings for the Yankees.

We HAVE to win tonight to put the pressure back on NY heading to Boston, if Pedro goes down tonight we are In trouble.

So Schilling has a torn tendon. Even if he does pitch again this series, he'll be lucky to be around 50%. It seems everything is back to last year's game 7 where again, Pedro is the guy. We're gonna have Arroyo, who has to be solid, followed by Wakefield and most likely Derek Lowe.

Now, I'm not big on Lowe right now, no one is, but what choice do we have? I still think he's better than how he's pitched this season....bad, bad season for him. He'll be gone after this season but if he can deliver a win against the Yanks, it'll be worth it.

Pedro needs to win game 2 or else the Sox are done. This game psychologically is a game 7. It's gut check time for Pedro. If he steps it up big, we'll keep him. If not, later.

Damon had an awful game and Manny wasn't much better. We desperately need to score around 7-8 runs this game to restore some faith. Our 1-4 hitters need to get on base, especially Damon. Right now, our best defense is a great offense.

Pedro is pitching well tonight but the Sox are not hitting again.

The Yankees pitching sucks and we can't hit them. They pitch horribly against most other teams but some how against us they all become Cy Young award winners.


Derek Lowe didn't pitch great his one inning against Anaheim but he got the job done. He responded to the crowd and if he pitches game 5 they need to cheer him on.

It is over anyway. Schilling is out with a torn tendon and SI has Johnny Damon and the Patriots on the cover. I know the jinx doesn't exist but SI loves trying to get people to write them letter's about that stupid curse. I would love to shoot the guy who decides the covers for that stupid magazine.
