I they perform well, they are loved.

I they don't perform up to expectations, they are hated.

Oh, and I give Derek Lowe plenty of credit. I'm happy that he contributed to our championship team and I will forever remember his winning games in the playoffs. I just don't think he's worth thirty-six million dollars over four years.

IMO your not giving Lowe any credit. No WS without Lowe. Not with the way Wakefield was pitching.

Clements is now getting a free ride (til the season.lol) because he is on the Red Sox. I wish him well, I really do but I don't see him worth 8 million a year when we could have had Lowe for 9
and Lowe has proven himself in the AL when Clement has not.

If Clement can win as many games as Lowe the next 3 years then we will talk. Until then he is just a wanna be.

Boston gives no one credit when they leave. Look at the way this board treats Antoine. He performed and played with a broken knee. It wasn't enough for "Celtics fans" Then again no one seems to be from Boston so who knows.

I'd take Lowe for that money if I wasn't in Boston. He performed well, but he doesn't really fit in here I don't think. LA will be very good for him.

For all those with any interest about Lowe/Dodgers, if you haven't read the article you should check out Neyer's article about DePodesta's theory for signing Lowe.

A quicky summary about it for those without insider: basically it's saying that Dodgers play in a pitchers park... but it's not the typical pitchers park. That it's very easy to hit homeruns there, it's just severely lowers batting average, doubles, and triples. Match Lowe, a pitcher who historically doesn't give up HRs, to a park that limits everything else and it could potentially turn out very good.

Whether it works or not I like to see GMs trying to optimize the talent for their ballpark.

When Lowe is pitching "bad", his biggest fault is giving up home runs by not getting his best pitch, the sinker, down enough leaving it right over the plate.

And no Matt Clement is not getting a "free-ride". If the Red Sox signed Jaret Wright for 25.5M, Theo and Wright would be heavily criticized. Basically every intelligent Red Sox fan I've talked to agrees that Matt Clement is a good pitcher and moving to a team with better run support would easily improve his won-loss record. In my opinion, Matt Clement has better stuff than Derek Lowe. I hope Derek Lowe the best in Los Angeles and it should be an easy (and better) transition for him.

Maybe you should find new baseball people. Mark is coming from the NL where he faced pitchers and no DH, Ah never mind your just incapable of understanding the facts that every baseball expert, fan and foe I have heard say. He will benefit from more run support but if he doesn't take out the A-Rod's, Jeter's and Sheffields of the AL he isn't going to do anything. There is a huge difference between facing, ah never mind I said that already.

And I rest my point. " Derek Lowe the, WC, ALCS and World series clinching winner doesn't fit here" and to think Boston fans get a bad rap.

No way, that's where the Mets would start negotiating.

I doubt any team would sign you to a contract. You would have them all kicked off the team for doing steroids your such a tattletale.

Chavez Ravine is below sea level, so pitchers reliant on breaking balls have an easier time there than elsewhere. Look at how well Bongmaster Bong pitched there last year. Lowe (as well as Weaver) is entirely reliant on the BABIP stat. When the batting average on balls in play goes up, he's worth less. The idea behind someone like Clement is that he keeps balls out of play, whereas Lowe lives and dies with the defense behind him.

Will Wells fit in???

I think he will fit in with Kevin and Ortiz for some reason they seem like the type of people that along with almost anyone, even if he was formerly a Yankee , but i think he will be a good investment to the team....
