Dan Connor would be a better fit for the Patriots system than Laurinitis, and he could be had in the second or even third round.

I think that was a significant contribution. Perhaps as significant as his inability to read a book.

a two rb attack doesnt necessarily need to involve one speed guy and one power guy...look right now at the best rb tandem since priest/LJ...adrian peterson and chester taylor...both similar rbs, neither is a true power guy...i believe maroney/mcfadden could be almost as good

Connor is a projected first rder. He's got a similar grade to Laurinaitis. And, I think they actually both fit in that system. Both could play inside in a 3-4 system.

That wasn't a realy two headed attack though. Peterson was the starter and Taylor was the backup. Its a bit more balanced now because of Peterson's injury.

If we're doing a two RB offense, I'd prefer a power guy to go with the speed guy. Otherwise, its a starter and a backup.

If the Pats drafted McFadden the two back system would be mostly McFadden/Faulk. I agree that you don't really need RBs with two contrasting styles to make it work, but I don't think Maroney is that good. It's crazy, in college it looked like he was going to be the better pro than Marion Barber.

Re: New England Shows Smith Where he can Stick his Guarantee

To be brutally frank, playing for New England makes people think that Maroney's worse than he really is. With the gaudy numbers being rung up by Brady, Moss, Welker, and the passing game, they wonder why Maroney's numbers aren't equally gaudy. The simple truth is that if Maroney's numbers were gaudy the passing game wouldn't look so unholy (because running plays devour the clock and running teams run fewer offensive plays overall). His numbers are pretty solid. They just simply haven't needed to go to the ground because the passing game has been historically good.

Would it be nice to add McFadden? Sure. But it's not going to happen because McFadden will cost them either Asante Samuel or Randy Moss, both of who are 28 times more important to the team's success than McFadden would be. The pick's probably going to be traded because New England probably has no interest in losing a key vet for a rookie. If we're lucky the Cowboys continue to be infatuated with McFadden and trade Barber and their two late firsts for him.
