Re: Air Force

I like Steve Blake but obviously i have only seen him in a fraction of the games you have. I'm looking at him as a backup point for the Raps next year, after we trade Ford or Calderon.

He's a servicable backup PG as long as he doesn't shoot the ball.

Re: Air Force

I'm glad you didn't want Blake, cause he's been ballin' in Denver.

The game against Wake was played at the World Arena, not at Clune Arena on the AFA campus. WF did not want to play there as AF is VIRTUALLY unbeatable in the cracker jack box gym. It was neutral, AFA does not play games at the World Arena except in these situations.

There ranking is significant. It shows that they were tearing it up for all but the final two weeks of a long season. yes they've lost to crappy teams. Every team slumps. You can't take a team out of the 64+1 field just cause they've hit a bump in the road.

Stanford probably won't make the tourney, you're right. However, AFA, a team that usually has not had much success against major D-I schools, is showing that they can compete with the big boys in the ACC and the Pac-10. Duke lost a lot of games, but they're still Duke, capable of beating any team in the country on any given night. AFA had them on the ropes until they had to foul near the end an Duke didn't miss their free throws.

If AFA doenst' get it, but a team who has played all season ranked between 35-50 gets in due to a decent tourney run (where they don't win their conference but do well), that woudl be a travesty.

Re: Air Force

Air Force does not belong. They haven't beaten a team with a top 100 RPI since the New Year. They have lost 4 straight games, two of which they had to win. They had the opportunity to play their way in and they lost. Same with Stanford, same with Missouri State.

Re: Air Force

Air Force obviously isn't the same team anymore for whatever reason. They beat Wyoming by 45 at home, beat them on the road as well, and then lay an egg to them on a neutral court. Losing their final four games and going 4-6 down the stretch is definitely going to loom in the Selection Committtee's minds. I still think they'll make it, but I could understand why they don't make it.

Well, it's more like they had the possibility of playing their way out and they just might have. I'd disagree with Missouri St., I'd be awfully surprised if they only give two bids to the MVC. That win over Wisconsin is going to get them in.

Re: Air Force

I don't see how their ranking during the year should matter. Yes they were a top 25 team for most of the season, but right now they probably wouldnt even be ranked in the top 40.
