Final Four Question

Was there ever a team that made it to the final four that won got in by winning their conference tournament and would not have made it as an at large.
I know this is a subjective question, but I was just thinking about it and could not think of any.

Before 1980 I beleive, conferences used to only get one bid.. so the answer is yes.

But since 1984, the start of the 64 team field, I don't think there has been none. I think there have only been three schools with seeds of lower then six to make the final four - LSU (11), George Mason (11), NC ST (8)... I don't think any were conference champions.

it's safe to assume that any team with a seed of 6 or above, was making the tournament irregardless if they won the tournament or not.
