Bracketology Notes for 2007-2008 Season
I'm going to be posting my Bracketology again this season, but I'm welcoming all ideas. I will post one pre-season bracketology, and then I will post a new one every two weeks on Tuesdays starting in January up until Selection Sunday. During Selection Sunday week, I'll make minor adjustments each day.
If you followed mine last year, you'll notice that things will be a little different this year. I won't be posting seeds based on how good I think teams are, but on how I think they would be ranked by the selection committee. Also, for one bid conferences, I won't be putting the team with the best RPI in the bracket like Lunardi does, instead I'll post the team that I think will win that conference. Those teams will always be listed in green (auto-bids). The at-large teams will be in black. I won't put teams in certain regions until the final week. Instead, I'll just list all the teams by seeds.
Some other general notes:
Although this won't come into play until late in the season, if you go 11-5 in a power conference (or 12-6 in the Big 10 or Pac 10), you're pretty much a lock to make the tourney.
A top 20 RPI team is a lock to make the dance. A top 38 RPI team from a power conference is pretty much a lock to make the tourney.
To get an at-large bid, you need an RPI among the top 65 if you're in a power conference. For mid-major conferences, you need an RPI in the top 50.
However, I will not use current RPI rankings as my tool, instead I will use rpiforecast.com which is a nice site that predicts where teams will finish by RPI.
