Re: Bubble Watch (12-16-07)
First let me get something cleared up - you're not projecting anything, right? You're saying, "If the season ended today," right?

Who would have thought that theteam picked last in the ACC would be considered a lock after one month.

Ya, I need you explain how you did this. I don't understand how USC (at 6-3, with only 1 quality win) could be a "lock" while a Vanderbilt is a "bubble" team. Again - are you projecting or saying "if the season ended today?"

I thought Gonzaga fans said this was a top 10 team? What went wrong?

Re: Bubble Watch (12-16-07)
I suppose I should have clarified that. This is not assuming the season ended today.
Miami's been a big surprise, but they're for real. Their resume is very good. 9-0 including wins over VCU, Providence, and @ Mississippi St. From what I've seen, no reason they can't finish at least 21-8. That puts them with an RPI of 20 or higher. They're in.
USC has piled up some good resume building wins over teams like Miami OH, Southern Illinois, Oklahoma, and @ South Carolina. They're a debatable lock, I'll give you that. But I think they're good enough to go at least 10-8 in conference which should put them in fine shape.
I don't think Vanderbilt's as good as advertised. If the season ended today, they would be in for sure. But they played a weak OOC schedule which is going to hurt them on Selection Sunday, and I think they'll struggle in the SEC.
Gonzaga's not too far off from being a top 10 team. The reason I didn't say that they're a lock is because it's hard to be considered one if you're not in a power conference. They should be fine, but you never know if that loss to Texas Tech could haunt them down the road. And what if they lose to Oklahoma and Tennessee?

Syracuse is probably the most questionable lock, but they should be in good shape to make the tourney. They're going to look better than they are because of a fortunate Big East schedule. They get to play most of the cupcake teams on the road: Cincinnati, DePaul, South Florida, and Seton Hall, while they get pretty much all of the tough teams at home. As a result, they'll probably go 11-7 or 12-6 in conference, punching their ticket to the dance.

Re: Bubble Watch (12-23-07)
Tough to be considered a lock in a non BCS conference, especially when you've got a home loss in a game you were favored in, along with losses to Miami OH and Arizona St. I'm sure they'll get in, but I wouldn't consider them a certainty at this point.

Re: Bubble Watch (12-23-07)
Right now I have Butler as a lock in the Horizon. With impressive wins over Va-Tech, Texas Tech, Ohio St., and Florida St., I would give them an at-large right now.

Re: Bubble Watch (12-23-07)
I'm sure they'll be fine. Everyone's got a definition for a lock. I'm always careful giving the lock status to teams that are mid majors because you've got to do a lot to get in, no questions asked.
