Talented squads last year? No, not at all. Tucker was good, but not nearly as good as everyone made him out to be. They had no outside shooters last year other than Taylor, either, and he wasn't anything special. He coached them to a 29-4 record, and a #1 ranking because of defense. This year he's talent is even worse. They don't have a single name player on the team, and they get very shoddy point play from Hughes and yet these team is still one of the legit championship contenders because of, you guessed it, defense! Anyone who doesn't think that he's one of the best in the game is out of their mind.

That team had solid post play, a National player of the year candidate, solid shooters and decent bench production. They won 30 games only to LOOSE in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Do you think a talentless team could win 30 games?
Ryan's coaching in that NCAA game last year was abysmal. Look I like the fact that you have mentioned all of the man's resume, I am just saying if Ryan is considered an elite coach, please tell me why Roy Williams isn't. We are talking about a man who has 47 NCAA wins, over 500 wins, a national championship, heck he has WON more games than Bo Ryan and he started coaching FOUR years after Ryan. Geez!

All I know is that JIm Boeheim has only coached two games of significant against Roy WIlliams, and wiped his *** both times with clearly inferior teams in terms of talent.
2003 Syracuse and in particular the 1996 Syracuse team that got to the final game, after beating one of Roy's most talented #1 seeds ever in the elite eight.
Both of those Syracuse teams had only ONE high-school all-american.

Actually thinking about it, its a statement to Roy's coaching that he has coached nothing but Division 1 teams and still has more wins than Ryan who has his division 3 resume to help pad his win column.

Good stuff, so does that mean Roy is a terrible coach because he lost to a 2003 Syracuse team that won 30 games and had the best player in college.
1996 I dont know too much about so I cant comment on that. I know thats a loaded team, and I have heard Roy say it still pains him till date that the team didnt win it all.
