1996 I dont know too much about so I cant comment on that. I know thats a loaded team, and I have heard Roy say it still pains him till date that the team didnt win it all.

Actually its the 1997 team that pains him. The 1996 team was the Junior Version of the team, that lost to a clearly inferio team. Roy Williams messed up with the 1997 team against a 5 seed in arizona (who did, granted, win the title)

Re: Davidson as a 7 Seed is Insane
I would love to see some of these guys at established basketball powers like Kansas, UNC and Syracuse come to a team who hasn't won a national championship in 50 years like Wisconsin (pre-Dick Bennett/Bo Ryan, if you really want to make it interesting).
I just have a hard time figuring out how much of a schools success is coach related, and how much is All-American recruit-related. I mean, some guys (Bruce Pearl), can just flat out coach.... but its hard to say...

Yes UNC was favored in the 2003 finals game, but Syracuse was not some cinderella team as you are trying to paint it. For goodness sake they won 30 games in Big East competition and had a terrific trio, one of which happened to be the best player in the nation and the 3rd pick in the NBA draft.

You called out Boeheim. I think it's totally relevant to look at the results of the two times they met.
And where the hell am I trying to paint Syracuse as a cinderella team? Your making things up... again.

Well Boeheim's team has played in the NIT in the last two seasons, you don't think 'an elite coach' should do better? Its not like he is getting JUCO players

From 1991 to 2005, Syracuse had two high school all-americans recruited and play for them - John Wallace and Carmelo Anthony. Wisconsin had at least as many if not more.

I already had this discussion with you earlier and you never really responded to any of my points.. other then saying things like experience, injuries, and an absolute lack of depth do not matter.

So coaching has nothing to do with Syracuse's downfall in the last two years? Should we blame it all on inexperience and a lack of 'all-americans'

Way to turn injury and depth issues, and only having six or seven scholarship players available, into lack of all-americans. Nice job.
