Re: Seeds as of Games Thru March 15
If Illinois wins tommorow and gets into the tournament
the last 3 in according to Ken Pomeroy
Syracuse, Missouri and Arizona St
last 5 out
Oklahoma St, Miami Fl, ST Mary's, Vanderbilt, Florida
he has Illinois at 37 right now in the country(which would make them around a 10 seed even if they loose tommorow)
of course their big 10 regular season record is like 4-14(i think??)
so no way they get an at large
also it looks doubtful New Mexico gets in
but they are 29 on his ranking and deserve a bid IMO as well

We're not getting a 2 ahead of Duke. Wisconsin will be a 3. I've sadly resigned myself to that fact.

Ken Pomeroy would probably punch you in the face if you started telling people that those were his last choices for the tournament... That's his power rating, and it has NOTHING to do wiht who he thinks should or will be chosen for the tournament

, ai
It's going to be close - and I still might chance it, Right now I have them at #7.. but I'm still wondering how much they will downgrade the big 10.... I do think they won't respect Purdue much (7 seed)... so its whether they fall behind both Georgetown and Duke.

Nim, I never call you out, but you are dead wrong. Let's make a bet. I'll sport a Wisconsin avatar until they lose again if they get a 3 and Duke gets the Badgers' 2. capish?

I have decided to go with Duke as my #2 seed. Must remember that the Big Ten is down, and Wisconsin played three games that mattered OOC. Is 19-2 in Big Ten that much better then 14-4 in the ACC (consider that a draw especially when one of Duke's win is against UNC away)
Wisconsin - lost Marquette, lost Duke, beat Texas
Duke - beat Marquette, beat Wisconsin, lost Pitt
To me when you look at tit like that, you have to go with Duke. Time to change my bracket.... ugh.
Also going to move Butler up to a 5.
HOWEVER, as I do think the committee sees Duke as a 2, they see them behind Georgetown.... for that reason, Georgetown will travel to Raleigh (there closest trip) and Duke will travel to Washington.
For those making the brackets, remember that Kansas / Texas are likely to be pegged on the bracket .. winner / loser.
Also remember that Texas has played Tennessee and UCLA so you have to separate the two, because they don't want 1-2 rematches until the final four.
Because of that expect Tennessee to be in the same region as UNC or UCLA which is quite unfair.... the fairest spot would be against Kansas, but they don't want a potential rematch with Texas.

Re: Seeds as of Games Thru March 15
but if Texas beats Kansas then doesn't that win over the #1 seed look even better? And what about history? A team from the ACC/Big Ten/etc. that's won outright their conference regular season and conference tournamens - don't they get the nod over a team that finished second in their league and didn't even make the semi's?

Do I have to do anything if I'm wrong? My favorite bets are like this: where I don't risk anything.
Either way, reputation favors Duke, head to head (even though it was at Cameron, that game was NOT close) favors Duke, quality wins favors Duke, Duke's in a tougher conference. I hope we get the 2, but I've seen us get screwed by the committee in seeding before. Not that I would even consider this to be screwing us to be honest. There are some very good teams this year, and I think 9 teams probably deserve it.
I think we're going to end up in Omaha too.
