the only thing i looked at when putting these together is the data i collected off of the site. all the conference champion automatic bids came from the polls in the forums and the at large bids and seedings were based heavily on the top 25. more notes will be posted below. just to clarify, i have the east region (east rutherford nj) playing the west region (phoenix az) in the final four and the midwest region (saint louis mo) playing the south region (atlanta georgia)

Couple of things.
- You have Troy State and Florida Atlantic, we both know there won't be two teams from the A-Sun. At least not this year.
- There is no way ETSU gets a 16 seed. The SoCon champ this year gets at least a 14 seed.
All in all it looks good to me other than those two. The Southland will have the 16 before the Southern will.

-i once again did not project the locations for the opening two rounds. either myself or newmessiah may do it later in the week, but i have not taken the time to do it yet.
-seeding was based entirely on the site top 25. i loosely based the at larges on how people voted in the conference polls. i tried to base this entire bracket off of the data i collected from the site.
-using the S curve, you may notice some inconsistencies in the seeding. the reason for this is that no two teams from the same conference can be top four seeds in the same region, and teams in the same conference cannot play each other before the elite eight. that being said, i had to do a lot of shuffling to make sure i met these guidelines when putting the bracket together. i did not change anyone's seed, but i did do a lot of moving between regions. the selection committee does the same thing. they also try to prevent changing a seed and it is actually a policy stating that they cannot move a team up or down more than one seed when it comes to meeting these guidelines. if this happens (and if you think about it, it is highly unlikely that it will) keeping within the seed will trump the guidelines.
-the coaches poll is out. although the ap and coaches polls are not used by the committee, the NABC rankings are. they are calculated the same way as the coaches' poll so i will rely heavily on this early in the year when doing the weekly brackets because most of the other data is not available.
-exhibition games continue to be played, but do not count and are not considered by the committee. the official season does not begin until november 13.
the next bracket will likely be released a week from today. it will be the preseason coaches bracket. for those that want to play along at home, i am going to take all the projected conference champions that the coaches voted on in the preseason for my automatic bids and base my at larges and seeding off of the coaches' poll. from now on, i will be taking into consideration the same things the selection committee does when they put the bracket together.

I like the idea of a UK-UNC sweet 16 matchup. That would make for a great game. Also, the WKU and Cincy first round game would be very exciting.
