Game 11: Charlotte Bobcats vs. Boston Celtics (11/22/06)

Boston Celtics (4-6) vs. Charlotte Bobcats (2-8)
Location: Charlotte Bobcats Arena
Date/Time: 11/22/06 at 7:00pm
Quote:
The Boston Celtics aren't used to winning streaks. They are, however, accustomed to beating the Charlotte Bobcats.
Riding their first winning streak of more than two games in 1+ years, the Celtics look to continue their dominance of the Bobcats when they meet on Wednesday night.
Boston (4-6) is averaging 118.0 points during its current three-game win streak, its longest since a four-game run from April 12-17, 2005. The team won two straight games on five occasions last season, but could not win three in a row.
``I got to use a joke that I've had saved up for some time,'' Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. ``The Web site is back up - www.threeinarow.com. It's about time, it's been down for a whole year.''
Boston will now try for its second win over Charlotte this season. Delonte West made a jumper at the overtime buzzer on a pass from Paul Pierce to lift the Celtics to a 110-108 win over the Bobcats on Nov. 8.
Boston has won seven of its eight meetings with Charlotte. The Bobcats' lone win in the series was 107-105 in overtime on Nov. 5, 2005. The last four games have been decided by three points or less.
Pierce scored 39 points, Ryan Gomes added 22 points and 14 rebounds, and the Celtics held off New York in a 122-118 victory on Saturday.
Gomes has scored in double figures in six of the past seven games after scoring only six points in each game during Boston's 0-3 start.
``He's like a guy that is like a glue guy,'' Pierce said of the second-year forward. ``He's a guy that doesn't demand the ball, but he's a guy that can get the job done.''
While Gomes is averaging 9.8 points and 7.2 rebounds, Pierce leads Boston with 27.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
Charlotte (2-8) is coming off its second straight loss, 93-85 to Dallas on Monday.
Emeka Okafor had 22 points and 13 rebounds, and set a team record with eight blocks for one of the best games of his three-year career.
Okafor made 8-of-14 shots and bested his own team record of seven blocks, set last week against New Orleans. He tied the NBA season high of eight, also achieved by Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal.
``I'm just trying to do my part,'' said Okafor, who is averaging a team-high 20.1 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.1 blocks. ``Coach told me they need me to clean the glass and that's what I do.''
Okafor has been getting little help. No other Charlotte player had more than six rebounds against the Mavericks as the team was outrebounded 48-37, including 16-7 on the offensive glass.
``The guy is bailing us out, but he has to get help,'' Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff said of Okafor.
Rookie Adam Morrison was held to seven points on 3-of-14 shooting Monday, two nights after going 5-of-15 from the field for 10 points in a loss at Orlando.
Charlotte center Primoz Brezec, in his second game back after sitting out two weeks due to exhaustion, committed two fouls in one scoreless minute Monday and did not return.
The Bobcats have lost six of seven.
``We play good for 46 minutes and then the last two minutes we have mental mistakes along with bad calls and defensive breakdowns,'' Charlotte swingman Gerald Wallace said. ``It kills us.''

Expected Starting Lineups
Bobcats
Celtics
Key Matchup
Adam Morrison vs. Wally Szczerbiak

Szczerbiak's 3rd quarter explosion killed the Bobcats last game, bringing the Celtics back into the game. Morrisons going to have to at least slow him this time around, on top of having a good night offensively.

Pierce and Wally had 70 between them in that game.
We have enough talent to beat teams in the Eastern conference and we should win games like this, but I haven't seen any sign that we can put it to together so far.

It looks like the Celtics are trying to force Raymond into mistakes and wear him down with some pressure.Without BK it's hard to see Raymond's wind holding out.

It looks like Raymond is running on fumes already
lucky for us that the Celtics aren't taking advantage of this scoring slump.I don't think we've had a basket in around six minutes.

Hes going to need to get some rest soon or were just gonna give up the lead in the final minutes I think we can stand 1-2 min of Bernard bringing the ball up

Re: Game 11: Charlotte Bobcats vs. Boston Celtics (11/22/06)
Morrison has done pretty good in this game.He only gave up about four or five blow bys and made some pretty decent plays.I think someone told him that Wally couldn't guard him either. We need his scoring, but he's got to limit all the bad plays on defense.
