"As nice as the building was, it was as someone said, the last of the propeller airplanes before the jets came," said Max Muhleman of Charlotte-based Private Sports Consulting.

I was too young to get into the Hornet's so I don't know how loud it was but 7 consecutive years of sellouts is amazing

Just too damn wierd to believe. You expect to see places like the Kingdome or Riverfront stadium imploded, but the Hive? Already? Well, I guess there was no further use for it, but it just seems so pointless. Granted I'm not a resident of the Charlotte area and I don't know how many such facilities exist there, but couldn't this place be used for something else, anything else? Conventions, rodeos, wrestling...I don't know. It could not have been any worse than the LA Sports Arena which the Clippers played in for 20 years and still stands for some reason. Just too wierd.

I'm going to cry. I use to love going to the Hive for Hornets games, and UNC games when they'd play in early season tournaments. There was no louder arena in the NBA than the Hive.
