Knight signs with the Clippers

Quote:
The Clippers' pursuit of a point guard ended Friday when the team agreed to terms with free agent Brevin Knight on a two-year, $4-million contract, league sources said.

The Clippers turned to the 10-year veteran after finishing second to the Houston Rockets in the quest to sign former All-Star Steve Francis and considering trades to acquire another established point guard to share the position with Sam Cassell.

Knight, 31, sidelined often throughout his career, must undergo a physical before signing the contract. He was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1997 draft after playing for Stanford. The Clippers will be his eighth NBA team.

The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 9.1 points and 6.6 assists last season for Charlotte in 45 games. Knight's career averages are 8.3 points and 6.8 assists.

The Clippers needed help at point guard because Shaun Livingston is still recovering from major knee surgery and may not play in the 2007-08 season and Cassell, who was injured for much of last season, turns 38 in November.

Doubt this eases the Clippers pain right now.

Re: Knight signs with the Clippers

As a Clipper fan, what did you guys like about Knight's game and what didn't you like? I know he can't shoot for **** and he gets alot of steals and assists, but can you guys give me a little more insight into him as a player after watching him play the last couple of seasons? Like how does he play as a starter? Off the bench? Do his assists come from actually making players around him better(playmaker like Nash, Paul and Kidd) or are they "cheap" assists(like Marbury, Francis)? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Knight signs with the Clippers

The only real problem with BK is that he's always hurt. He's a decent defender and the thing that people say about his shooting is not actually true any longer. He has no range, but his mid range jumper is quite acceptable and his shooting percentage go nowhere near the sort of baseless hyperbole that people use to it describe it.People leave him open he spots up and he shoots a percentage that's pretty similar to most other point guards.

He's an incredibly sound point guard who can find the best shot for his team almost without fail.He does have matchup problems with quicker guards and with bigger guards....And he has been known to get t'ed up and ejected. The reasons we let him go are complicated.Essentially it boils down the injuries and the fact that our FO is in the hands of idiots.

Re: Knight signs with the Clippers

So he's only getting 2 million per year. Ah, well I guess it wasn't that bad that we got rid of the contract it just would have been better to get him back after ridding ourselves of it

Re: Knight signs with the Clippers

McInnis, Boykins, Dajuan Wagner, Yuta Tabuse (marketing reasons) are now the most relevant options left in the market now.
